The interview left a bad taste in my mouth, so don't think I'll be applying to any more management jobs. Think I'll be happy just being another peon lol.
A persons working career is too damn short to have a job you don't like.

My boss is in Germany. The only reason he even knows who I am as an individual is that we are the only two smokers among the 50 or so EH&S team members. We hang out a lot together at conferences and such. My review consists of him looking at our numbers. Our numbers are very very good.

I would manage. The bigger issue is that it is in Detroit.

My dear old neighbour died today. They found him on the back lawn of his house. I'm guessing heart attack. It looks like he was clearing snow off the lawn, he left huge piles of snow that wasn't there yesterday.
Sorry to hear of your neighbor passing away.

Was he an older man .. ??

If so, maybe he just overexerted himself.

For why ...... I don't know.

Haha, TBH, I'd rather be doing a job like that. Unfortunately, relocating is a no-go, too tight of a family haha.

Over the years I've come to realize that. For the first 5 years or so, I was that guy who worked late and missed happy hour, worked weekends, jumped through hoops to make my boss/ the customer happy, etc. My wife was the same way. But after kids, you start to realize, it's all just a means to an end. It's all about work-life balance.

Was more not being close to the grandsons and our kids.

Actually that looks a lot like our neighbor now so really not a factor.
