I think some of you are misunderstanding why people are upset over 2-3k. For me its not so much about the price but that we are getting a stripped down base car for that price. I wouldnt be as deterred if the car came with hids, bespoke, and a couple other things. The V6 mustang starts at 22,200 for the stripped down model

I would agree with this line of thinking in most cases, but given the economy, sometimes people look at it from the "security factor" of not havng any car payment, or other types of outstanding payments, so this can occasionally play a role in the decision process, if they put a high value on security.

It really depends on each individuals particular situation, but I do however agree that this makes a ton of sense.

I don't know about this. For $2,000 less I could get a much more powerful Mustang.
Then get it. If you want hp/$ this isn't the car for you.

Oh like invest it or take it for a walk. If you down pay 10% on a $30k car with rates like 3.0% you're talking about a few hundred dollars over the life of the loan. Chump change.

I was going to pay cash myself until I did some research and it seems I'd be outta my mind not to finance when using someone else's money is so damn cheap right now. I could use that same money I was going to pay for the car with and use it for down payment on another proprety, which I think I just might do. So food for thought guys...

Wise words!

After I bought my truck, I refinanced my auto loan with another type of loan which was 1.3% for 36month! I paid that thing off with the quickness and saved a ton interested that I would have paid if I kept the 60month loan.

I plan on financing since the rates are very good. I just don't know how much of it I want to put down given that this car will depreciate the moment I drive off the lot. It's good to establish the others first like a Roth IRA, CD, Money Market, even stock options etc.

Exactly right. There are stupid decisions and then decisions that make sense for your situation.

Oh I love the 'Stang as a cruiser and it can make a great car. I had one as rental and the rumble of the engine (V6 only) was a nice throb to hear on the highway. But as a surgical weapon? MX-5, FR-S or Lotus Elise are on the top of my list. The latter doesn't exist in the NA market as a new car. Used Lotus can be scary.

I say test drive both and put them through similar courses. If you like the surge more than the twisties, then the Stang's for you! I respect both sides but prefer the twisties.

Putting $3k down on a $30k car and financing $27k at 3% for 5 years is $2,100 of interest, not "a few hundred dollars".

It's a couple grand more than I expected, but not the end of the world. That extra couple of grand though does make the competition look a bit more appealing though, imo.

Actually, I think if Toyota released this car in the US and not scion, not as many people would be complaining of the price...

ROFL. Look one line up - must be an American thing. Guess that's why US is a AA rated nation instead of us AAA Canucks.

Look at the TOTAL MSRP = $25,125

Total wins - all the time.
