*** EDIT: Problem solved. Use stock MAP sensor. ***

So for comparison purposes, here's the intercooled vs nonintercooled run. Best intercooled took hours on the dyno, best non-intercooled was our OTS tune with e65 (phloozy) above. Both on ethanol running pretty much the same advance, cam timing, and di timings. Both Raceseng 70mm pulleys.

My conclusion, for the time being, is that the intercooler hinders flow too much for the smaller pulleys. The problem is a maximum HP output issue. The charge air becomes incredibly unstable with that laminova core.

We tried the following over 50+ dyno pulls and two gas tanks on the road covering a hundred flashes.

FULL cam sweep in both directions
DI/PI ratios 100-0-100 in both directions
DI timings covering a full sweep that is physically possible, to the point of misfiring on both extremes.
AFR from 11:1 to 13.5:1. Best power above was on the leaner end.
Stock and aftermarket injectors.
Ignition timing is not a factor.
What we though were bad coils are not, no misfires on the latest tunes.

So there you have it. We'll keep working on this to see what else might be playing a role.

Now, does anyone have dynojet numbers of an intercooled setup that does differently?

As much as us tuners compete, I have been surprised by the consensus with our dyno findings. Oddly enough we hypothesized this would be an issue months back....

Mine showed up on Valentine's Day!!

@DarrenDriven

My production #
S5-210-050213-0011

My build link
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28467

Checked over a few things in my down time. I replaced the hardware with stainless steel bolts. Wanted something strong but also something that wouldn't corrode over time like the standard steel bolts. They are more expensive but still under $20 for a package of 50 which is more than enough to swap out the majority of the bolts.

I also retapped the threads on the intake portion of the super charger to NPT threads instead of BSPT for the two plastic elbow fittings.

I also read somewhere that some of the superchargers did not have the "gaskets" on the intercooler. Mine came with them. Maybe the ones who upgraded didn't get them but the ones that bought the stage 2 did? Only thing I could think of.

And lastly for those lame enough to care as I was. The weight difference between the 75mm pulley and the 70mm Raceseng pulley.

Also purchased my clutch and flywheel kit last month and purchased the FBM radiator/fan shroud combo today. The rest of my Nameless exhaust should be here shortly. My header showed up yesterday. I go to get my baseline dyno run next week. All I have left to do is build my oil cooler and get the tune and we'll see what kind of numbers I put down on 93

I really hope you figure it out otherwise I'll be returning my intercooler and selling the supercharger and 70mm pulley. I hate wasting money on labor. I can't have this happening when I start tracking my car in a month or two.

It's the 210+and 335 kit. Nothing much out there, but Bill at Delicious Tuning supposedly has the 210+.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50217 is the thread to monitor.

Wasn't Delicious the one with an intercooled car that hit 300whp? Was he having issues up top?

E85 is a hell of a drug.

Explains why the intercooler kit didn't make much if any more power than my non-intercooled setup on pump. But it atleast cooled things down charge temp wise for the track.

thats a giant bummer. Any suggestions for us intercooled owners @moto-mike?

This info kind of pisses me off. I feel like I wasted money for no reason. The whole purpose of me buying the intercooled kit was to make it easier and safer.

Is this issue just with intercooled kits + 70mm pulley? Or all kits?

This is preliminary stuff. I am hoping to see a few dyno plots that show that it can be made worthwhile on something other than a stock, 75mm setup. This way it gives us reason to invest more time and energy in finding a way around it tuning wise. If there's a solution we will find it, but in looking back at the posts I am not finding any third party results that show otherwise. I really sincerely hope we are wrong, I am no no mood to pull this blower again!

I just find it a little ridiculous that it's causing an issue in the first place.

If I can be of any help let me know.

What about Bills intercooled tune, that made over 300whp? Didn't seem to be any issues on that plot.

@delicious hit over 300 with this kit intercooled. IIRC. I think we need to hear from him before we start assuming it isn't possible or that there are problems getting there. i know he used e85 but this is the first I have heard of these problems. Does anyone know the area of the openings on the cooler vs the ports on the runner? I know there is restriction over the laminova.

I want the intercooler. Anyone want to sell me one??
