Since all three share similar engine weights, you could extrapolate that the approximate size for the FT-86 is still within 2700-2900lb range. Both Mazdas use a "back bone" around the transmission tunnel for rigidity. But the FT-86 is quite a bit removed from the Subaru platform so I couldn't use those for an example. Still nothing for sure though, just guessing .

I got those Mazda weights from edmunds, they should be factory specs. The est range is just what I was getting at with my comparison. The FT86 est. weight is from the early days. I believe Toyoda was quoted as saying they were shooting for less than 1300kg.

I can't believe how much smaller the FT-86 is compared to my Protege5 hatch.
Protege5: Length: 170.51 inches Width: 67.09 inches Height: 57.80 inches Wheelbase: 102.80 inches FT-86: Length: 163.78 inches Width: 69.29 inches Height: 48.19 inches Wheelbase: 101.18 inches 1/2 a foot shorter and 3/4 a foot lower. |
