FT86 II
Wheelbase: 101.2"
Length: 166.7"
Width: 70.7"
Height: 50"
Est: 2833lbs or 1300kg

2011 Mazda Rx-8
Wheel base: 106.4"
Length: 175.6"
Width: 69.7"
Height: 52.8"
Curb weight: 3111 lbs.
This is just for comparison between the only two cars in this size category using unknown trim levels from the 2011 models. Mazda is the only one with cars this "tiny." I used Edmunds if it makes any difference. And the pictures for them are already in this thread so it's just a direct comparison based on specs.

Since all three share similar engine weights, you could extrapolate that the approximate size for the FT-86 is still within 2700-2900lb range. Both Mazdas use a "back bone" around the transmission tunnel for rigidity. But the FT-86 is quite a bit removed from the Subaru platform so I couldn't use those for an example. Still nothing for sure though, just guessing .

I got those Mazda weights from edmunds, they should be factory specs. The est range is just what I was getting at with my comparison. The FT86 est. weight is from the early days. I believe Toyoda was quoted as saying they were shooting for less than 1300kg.

I can't believe how much smaller the FT-86 is compared to my Protege5 hatch.

Protege5:
Length: 170.51 inches
Width: 67.09 inches
Height: 57.80 inches
Wheelbase: 102.80 inches

FT-86:
Length: 163.78 inches
Width: 69.29 inches
Height: 48.19 inches
Wheelbase: 101.18 inches

1/2 a foot shorter and 3/4 a foot lower.

Yep, they aren't kidding when they say it's basically a 2+2 Miata Coupe

Compared to most cars the FT86 is a sub-compact car .
