If not, lame.
Then going back to my original post answer. Not like you gonna use those function anyways. So answer is, it won't be functional for you nor 98~99% of owners.

Ohhh, really, nice opinion, I'm sure the 98-99% of owners are glad you think that way.

Lame.

Well I'm sure nobody here is doubting ichi's translation accuracy. I think it's just that some of us have reservations on how Toyota is justifying certain design elements on the body.

Me I find it hilarious that Toyota often seems to be defending their questionable design decisions yet I almost never see this sort of behavior with Mazda for example.

You gotta realize at the end of the day, being a representative of a car company as large as Toyota, you have to be PR trained to hold such a high position in the organization. Don't necessarily believe 100% on what they say is the absolute truth.

For the record I believe BMW always had fake side vents on their production cars dating back to at least the 70's with the 6 series, it's just done for design and not function. I almost didn't buy the BRZ cuz of those fake side vents.

An article I read said that as the GR race car was developed along side the road car that as they found cooling requirements it made sense for the airflow ducting to be integrated into the bodywork on the production model. As we all know, any openings affect economy so it's not suprising that these are not open on road going models but they are apparently easily removable and functional but need the additional work behind them as such.

On a side note, it seems that the UK oversold it's A90 Edition model (only 24 available), some buyers have mentioned getting an apology from TGB for the cock up as the system allowed over orders. Plus it seems that all "Pro" spec have also gone. Not sure when the next lot will be available, but well done to anyone who got one!

That will be a very small percentage.
Even smaller considering the transmission. And BMW reliability... how many will even make it there before breaking down?

Not a surprise.

And ichi, the 86 vents are fake too. Requiring a sawzall to make it functional doesn’t require the fake vent to be there at all. It’s easy to cut metal wherever you want...

I really liked the Z4 M, so here's hoping another one comes by. That'll at least give me a silver lining to all this.

Most if not all sporty cars have at least one fake vent or scoop on them, including the 86.
