They are quite difficult to defeat, but so satisfying when you do in the end, especially the queen. I must have died 30-40 times fighting her.

I would say that is about the same amount of times I died too. Once I beat her by saving the rage meter for the last hits, I roared. Now I can continue the story mode and wipe the floor with Baldur since I got the Niflheim armor maxed out and other sockets at legendary.

Also, I don't think it's going to be released on PC anytime soon.

Switching over to PC, as pricey as I have made it so far, has been one of the best financial move I've ever made. I'm sure the boss lady would beg to differ, but she doesn't seem to mind when she's ripping through gears on A.C

I'm a huge proponent of cross-platform development. For one, it's much easier now. For two, the money has never really been in the hardware anyway. Look at how M$ has moved into gaming and the cloud as a hedge against their OS focus. It's brought them back to a new strength again. Also part of the huge reason for the shortage of PS5s (and presumably the Xbox X as well) is they are selling $1k or more worth of hardware for $400-500 dollars because they know they will make back in the games. Well fine but maybe just branch-out of the box? I mean I love paying next-to-nothing for console boxes that play as good as a modern mid-level gaming PC but at the same time it's almost mind-boggling. Like I could build my own linux or M$ PC tower again for $2k and I'll still pay for games on Steam so... thanks but why? It's almost like the exact opposite of car manufacturers who build a $200 radio for $2k that doesn't even do what you want but you have to buy it.

I think one of the main reasons why Sony and Microsoft build and sell their consoles for cheap (At a loss), is that they make their money on peripherals like controllers, cameras, adapters, etc. Also because consoles are easily accessible and transportable. You could say the same for laptops, but their cooling is one their huge drawbacks and the battery life will degrade as time goes by. It is certainly interesting how the new generation can go against most PCs out there, for a fraction of the cost, a 3060ti costs as much as a console. But again, when you're building a PC, you buy components from different brands so companies have to sell their products and make the most they can against the almost unlimited budget that Sony and Microsoft have to sell their products at a loss.

One of the main reasons why I switched to PC is the optimization for its games. Sure, I get to miss out on some exclusives, but the wait is very much worth it. Sure, the Series X or PS5 can play at 4K 60FPS, but a computer can do more, for more, but for longer. The initial build of a PC is costly, but overtime you just pluck out a component here and there extending its life.

Now that I think about it, I could get a console and still enjoy games with great performance, have a laptop/tablet for work/leisure, and save some money. But being able to enjoy higher graphics at a considerable higher frame count, is something that would be very hard to give up.

I'd say PC are more value based as you can do far more than just play games. The only problem, though, is we are dealing with insanely inflated PC parts. Namely graphics cards. I'd rather have a PC as I don't do LAN games or go places with it. Nor would I do that with my console.

For me, being an old time gamer (yes I actually played Pong on a Pong system) I just prefer the PC experience. There is nothing enjoyable about playing with a controller.

In fact, at this point it's PC, VR and far in the distance, a console. I will probably never own another console. I had owned the previous gens of XBOX and PS but it was strictly for my kids. I doubt I have a total of 50 hours played on all those generations outside of the games SSX Tricky, Guitar Hero and Madden Football.

Now I did waste some time on the Atari 2600 and a Colecovision back in the day.

Gran Turismo is the only reason I'd buy a console. Otherwise it's PC only for me.

economies of scale. guaranteed 100,000+ sales of the same product makes a massive difference in final cost.

just this random led driver ic is a full $1/unit cheaper compared to buying 1 vs. 1,000.

A keyboard and mouse is definitely better in most cases. Especially games with more complicated inventories and whatnot.

Baldur will be a cakewalk compared to the Valkyrie Queen

I find nothing satisfying about this scenario, particularly if there is no real strategy involved in the final solution. (and no running around in a circle pounding on keys is not a strategy).

I'm not sure about your point that the game name is Battleship given that it's on the box.

Arma taught me that a keyboard is the only way to play a game. There are so many key bindings I still don't remember all of them. Hell, I think their are 8 (I believe 2 buttons to press per movement) total just to do the various firing stances. God help me if I'm doing something more complex like piloting a helicopter.

Continuing my Retro gaming, I started up Lost Planet 3. I forgot how good the acting is and the overall story isn't too terrible. I enjoy most of the characters and the setting. However, I must admit, the gameplay isn't quiet as fun as the first one and the weapon choices kinda suck. Also, this game did not age well with monitors and resolutions beyond 1080p. I had to revert from 1440 to 1080 just so the cutscenes didn't look pixelated from the late 90s. Still, this is probably my favorite out of the series with 2 being the worst (as it's coop only). The first is enjoyable nostalgia since it was a game that I used to play during Airborne School when we had downtime.

I'll give Lost Planet 3 a 7/10 for the great storytelling, characters, and acting. But the gameplay is meh.
