This weekends Pro was awesome. Loved the course, loved finally being on Bridgestones. Still struggling to keep pace with you guys. I had a decent left side time, but bungled it with a .351 red light.

The car was really loose Saturday, struggled in the high speed transitions, stiffened the front and softened the rear a bit and it was much better Sunday morning, but I think I should have left the front alone as I had a little too much push in the back sweeper.

Enjoyed seeing the FR-S take C-street and looking forward to the Champ Tour in two weeks!

Let me know when you're running them and I'll come up for another event.

Based on comparison to ES, I'd say the former!

Thanks, I really liked the course last weekend. Easily the most successful event I've had in this car yet, although I felt maxed out in time after Saturday afternoon. Don't think I'll make the finale unfortunately.

due to our region's toyo contingency, I keep getting free tires throw at me... so I'm still driving Toyo R1Rs

anecdotal observation is telling me that my competitors are picking up between 0.8 and 1.5s raw... (they used to run either RS3s or Zii) does this sound accurate?

anyone here used to run R1Rs?

Anyone pick up their latest issues of Grassroots Motorsports? My just arrived today. They tested the new ND Miata against Harvey/Fenter's current NC Miata (took 2nd last year to a 370Z at nats, and the 370Z has now been bumped to BS).

I haven't read the whole article, but I read the track test section...and two different drivers were consistently faster with the new ND Miata vs the NC Miata. Both were on Rival S's in the same size.

And the NC Miata is on Penske's.
And the new ND Miata didn't have the LSD or Bilsteins.

What do you think the chances are that the ND Miata will go to BS? Probably doubtful, but for our sakes', hopefully! Am I going to go unload my FRS and pick up a new Miata? No, because my tall arse (6'6") probably will not fit in the Miata (just like all of the other Miata's...and S2k's. #tallpeopleproblems).

I guess it will be interesting to see how well the TRD equipped FR-S's keep up this year at nats.

I was on Toyos earlier this year and somewhere closer to the .8 side of things sounds right. It's hard to tell for sure because I drove like crap at the Wilmington Spring Pro, but at the Summer Pro(on the RE-71R) I was noticeably closer the the rest of the pack.

This weekends local event also saw me beat out a guy who normally takes me by a second or more, but he was a little hung over and it was on asphalt, not concrete, which could make a difference.

Any chance you can take some pictures or post up some of the specifics from the article? I figured it would be close but did not think in anyway that a stock non-Club ND would be ahead of the Harvey NC. If what you say is true and the ND is faster in non-LSD in stock form against Harvey's NC then the rest of CS is in big trouble if that is where they put it.

I don't know where they will put the Miata, but if the results for GRM is a reliable and an accurate representation of the ND's performance then I'd think it would have to go in BS. CS is the biggest street tire class with good diversity in cars and everyone would surely bail if they can't buy or don't want to spend the money on an ND. Not sure they want to risk killing the class.

Yup, here is the article.
Now, granted this is just one test, but the variables of the test seem to be fairly controlled (same tires, two drivers, multiple runs).
There was also the Motor Trend article that showed faster times on a test track for the new Miata over the BRZ: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...n/viewall.html

It really is all speculation at this point, but I'm sure that if the ND is clearly the overdog, it could get bumped to BS. If not, the BRZ/FRS still has STX to play in...just going to cost us more $$ to get competitive there.

Besides, I don't think the twins are the clear over dog in CS currently anyway - the NC Miata and RX8 are still both very competitive. But like I said earlier, it will be interesting to see how the TRD FRS's do at nats this year.

I need some help here.
This is what I have:
TRD springs
Strano front bar
TRD sway bars, not installed yet.
Which front bar should I use with the TRD rear bar?
I tried the TRD springs with the Strano front and oem rear but it is too pushy in sweepers and slow stuff.
Does anybody know if the TRD front bar has a higher rate than the Strano?

Get your TRD bar on the back and be done with it. I'm running an even bigger bar on the front with TRD rear, and my car seems to turn just fine, and slalom even better.

Do you mind me asking what front bar you're using? I'm on the TRD springs and TRD bars, front and rear, but I'm toying with the idea of going to a larger front bar to help with transitions/slaloms. I don't really have any good events for testing prior to nats though :/

Perrin 22mm on soft, but all the cars that finish behind me will tell you this bar is too stiff. Could probably drive the slaloms with your eyes closed with this setup and cheater tires.

I see, thanks for the info. Now do you mind me asking what you're running your koni's at and what tire size? I've been running mine at 1/2 turn from full firm up front, and 1/2 turn from full soft rear, and 225/45-17's. I wouldn't mind a hair more rotation on corner entry, so I'm thinking about bumping up the rear koni's. As for gearing, I've only hit the rev limiter in 2nd on one course (out of 4 events), but I could see the larger courses at nats being a bigger issue. Not sure that jumping up to 235/45's will really yield much of a higher top speed.
