looking great so far. All it needs now is a final sanding and polishing, I guess.

Mine have a semi matte finish to them as well. I pre sanded with 800 grit and put about 3-4 coats of the red Metalcast. I wet sanded 2000 grit in between coats as some dust got on the paint. The wetsanding seemed to make it worse as it was very clear before I wetsanded it again. I sprayed about 3 coats of clear on it. I'm hoping after I let it cure for a week that when I polish the lights the gloss will come out.

Yeah, there are also dusts in between the clear coats that I did, but they are barely noticeable and sanding them out would not be feasible for me as the 2K Clear Coat can only be used within 24-48 hours after activating.

When I did the 3x light coats of clear, the texture is still matte and I was getting a bit worried, so the next 2 coats I sprayed on heavy and it worked! I got the gloss that I wanted.

retrosmiths, do you have any more pics you can post maybe at different angles? Any pics from during the process at each step?

Not for every step, but here's how it looks like last week when I sanded and painted them red:

And here's after I cleared them:

Next week, I will polish the surface and get rid of the orange peels and surface irregularities, and achieve more shine at the same time.

Looks nice, post pics when you're done. I just ordered my spraymax 2k, I will be doing mine hopefully next weekend.

I've noticed there is a certain appeal to the more matte red finish. I kind of like it.

Well the matte look isn't even all around (probably the way I sanded it), which causes uneven distribution of light when it's on, which doesn't look so good.

Just an FYI, I didn't sand my stock tails. I cleaned them well, then applied the metalcast.

Maybe thats why your tails were a bit hazy. I also noticed you have some orange peel, mine don't have that at all. hmm.

Either way, still looks good.

So I should apply a few more coats of clear and the haze should go away?

I'm going to do mine tomorrow. Is it best to apply the red then wait a few days to do the clear or is same day better? I just read on metalcast site that if you wait over an hour between a coat that you have to wait like 6 days to respray. Does this only apply to metal cast coats or clearing after the metalcast?

Can someone who has successfully redded with the below cans please post your prep procedure and dry times between red coats and time between red and spraymax?

Using metalcast and spraymax 2k.
