And only US sales of the twins is used. So why are you posting global numbers? Also in 1990 they made 95k but only sold about 76k globally ![]() And you can not compare today's market to that of the early 90's. Just saying :p |

1990's car market was much smaller. Maybe 60% of today's market. The Miata captured a significantly larger percentage of the market.
And I would definitely buy an FR-S or BRZ sedan. Stretch it 6 inches. Put in a turbo. Make it weight 3000lbs. I'm all in. Then again, the Integra sedan sold like crap. Course it was just another FWD car at that point. |

I'm the opposite, think the wheelbase is too long. Its not manuvarable enough. Get rid of the useless backseat, shorten the wheelbase, and take enough safety iron to drop the weight a couple thousand pounds (and the safety rating.) Make it serious. Otherwise just get a WRX if you want a big powerful wheelbase.

I'm pretty sure you meant lose a couple hundred not thousand pounds. The useless back seats are awesome because they make our insurance rates lower. At least that's my understanding. Kind of like the useless seats in the back of 911s.
There is no comparison between the WRX and Twins. Totally different cars for totally different purposes. |

I think this is what Nissan will be going for with the IDx.. I would think 250lbs less than an 86 due to no back seat and shorter overall.. then perhaps a 1.6l turbo with 200hp 200tq (a la veloster turbo - juke sourced).. suddenly the fr-s is called a slow fat pig. And sorry to say it, but to most people in the market, even if driving dynamics are not as solid as a twin, the straight line performance will compensate more than enough.
It will likely be very close to a twin track times wise, but will feel much faster on the street, due to low-end torque. Hopefully, Toyobaru have surprises up their sleeves and are ready to respond. I would personally prefer to see marginal power increases, but significant weight loss. Griffon inspired really. Thinking, 225hp, 2450lbs, out of the box... |

Doubt it. Considering Nissan can't seem to make a decently powerful sports car that isn't at least 200lbs over 3k lbs these days... And... The Juke.
The Juke itself removes them from potential manufacturing competitor to Toybaru. Now, Honda, on the other hand... They might come out with something that could compete. It'll probably be FWD, but that just means options. Mazda is already coming out with a new Miata that'll probably compete directly with the twins. I just don't see Nissan actually competing here. The car will end up being a heavy pig, just like their Z series. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

The company that killed the S2k instead of making a Coupe, GT or estate version?
The company that's been promising us a new NSX for over a decade. The company that ignores the USA just about every time they make a badass version of a car (with exception of the ITR). The company that pulled out of F1 the year before that same team won a championship. REALLY! I've been driving Hondas and racing Hondas for over 15 years but let's face it, they've lost their way. They've given up on good suspension design, tried to sell us cars like the Crosstour and CR-Z and can't figure out how to offer a fun car under $35k. I gave up on Honda because they gave up on me. That's why I have a Scion in my garage right now. But don't despair because where Honda has failed us, ToyoBaru has filled the gap and maybe Nissan/Nismo, Mazda or Kia or someone else will as well... The future of fun looks bright, it just won't be found at a Honda dealership. My $.02

The only car I've ever heard of where the seats affect the insurance rates is the Honda S2000 and that's not because of the number of seats, it's because of the price of the seats and their status as a desirable theft target. Seriously, the seats are so expensive and so easy to steal. |

Same could have been said about Toyota for much longer than Honda, till the 86. Subaru wasn't going to do it without significant prodding either.
For all of the 2000's, the ONLY Japanese company making reasonably affordable sports coups besides Mazda (okay, the mx- 5 is a convertible) was Honda. Nissan was building muscle cars, effectively & definitely expensive. Then Toyota got some sense & here we are. Who's to say Honda won't see how smart Toyota was & follow suit & return to their senses as well. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

Part of the reason I own the FRS is that if flies in the face of all logic. I mean.. really? How could a company like Toyota, the undisputed king of beige, make a car like this? I could have been doing LSD at Burning Mad and not been crazy enough to guess Toyota would do something like this. I had no idea that people with actual heartbeats and adrenal glands still worked for that company, I thought it was run entirely by bean counters and robots. They proved me wrong so I bought their car. So, how many decades before Honda rediscovers their humanity, if they ever do?
