Thought I'd share this here.
So far I've seen the MAF sensor having one of only THREE behaviors in OL on Australian cars with stock intake. If you wish to ignore CL and use the OTS 2.0 Stg2 petrol MAF scale, then maximizing power in the shortest time possible should simply be a matter of plugging in the correct adjusted MAF scale. (I say shortest time possible, but this is 6 months worth of going in circles). TYPE 1 The lucky few who have near perfect AFR's on OTS tune. No correction required except smoothed MAF scale slightly - 1% leaner at 3.2V, 3.9V and 4.0V. TYPE 2 Starts going rich after 4.0V MAFV or 6400-6800rpm, right before peak power so it hurts your dyno number. Corrected with "v77.NT1" MAF scale - 1% leaner at 3.2V, 1% leaner at 3.9V, 3% leaner at 4.0V, 5% leaner after 4.2V. TYPE 3 Farkin rich all over but extremely rich at 3.2V and after 3.8V MAFV. Usually accompanied by engine load above 1.3g/rev resulting in a fake lean lump around 6000-6800rpm where it's hitting the load limit. It still makes decent power at 6800, purely by accident and sucks everywhere else. Corrected with "v76.AT1/v77.AT1" MAF scale - 6% leaner at 3.2V, 4% leaner at 3.9V and 4.0V, 5% leaner at 4.3V. TYPE 1 Examples: (MT) 1: http://datazap.me/u/toy-sooby/3rd-ge...2-3&zoom=0-107 (MT) 2: http://datazap.me/u/deanveljkovic/86...2749&mark=2713 (MT) 3: http://datazap.me/u/deanveljkovic/ky...zoom=4149-4280 TYPE 2 Examples: (MT) 4: http://datazap.me/u/lipton54321/log-...1060&mark=1022 (MT) 5: http://datazap.me/u/notrq/custom-ww-...0-462&mark=423 TYPE 3 Examples: (AT) 6: http://datazap.me/u/praneetn7/stg-2-...zoom=5263-5359 (AT) 7: http://datazap.me/u/wayne/206-stg2-u...&zoom=893-1084 (MT) 8: http://datazap.me/u/ethsgreygts/wayn...&zoom=907-1082 (MT) 9: http://datazap.me/u/supernom/e85-pul...63&mark=68-112 |

The other thing is it doesn't correspond to header type or calibration code. For example all 3 behaviors contain A01G and all 3 contain UEL and all 3 contain stock headers. So could be simply batches of sensors, batches of air boxes, or some other manufacturing variation, etc.

I was in the type 3 as well, in the US. My buddy's car was closer to a type 2, but he was pretty lean everywhere in part throttle which meant his IAMs were dropping below .7 a LOT.

So, the trd intake, is it common/recommended to scale? I am looking to get one this week and am considering trying my hand at this. It would be my first toe into tuning.

OMG!~ LOL
I just lost a whole data log of 30+ minutes driving because of simple mistake. While I was typing name of log on the OFT's file name creating menu, my finger touched "esc" on the screen accidentally. Then it went back to data logging screens and NO saved data. So everyone, do not ever press "esc" on OFT's screen keyboard when typing name of data log. I wish Im the one and only person who experience this. |

BTW 30+ minute logs are auto trimmed somewhere around 20 minutes now, so any data after that is gone. |

Unless you have already bought one or want the bling factor a quality drop in filter in the stock air box will likely achieve same results for far less cash. Add a silicone intake hose if you want to delete sound tube or simply plug it up. |
