Is there room underneath to separate and drop the transaxle? It was doable on my Eclipse. Dunno about the Corolla. I'm pretty sure I'd have to lift out the whole schmeer on my wife's Camry.

edit: late to the party. Whole other page. Like a fat kid on a Mars bar, you guys are on it.

I love snow mode. No more wheel spin taking off from a red light while the roads are slick.

I wouldn't try that with a Ford 428 big block and a Cruisomatic. About 800 pounds together, IIRC. You might only find a grease spot under the engine/tranny. Maybe with an aluminum 4 banger.

Oh, yes, we did this too! My friend with the hoist used the crossbeam of his carport for the attachment point instead of a tree, however. Every time he'd "cog" the ratchet another step, the entire roof of the carport would make a noise like a giant timpani. Really, we're lucky we didn't pull the roof down on our heads.

Best idea. You can rent a "come-along" hoist that attaches to a trailer hitch and also has the steel frame to support the hoist itself properly. They are usually not expensive to rent.

I'd like to see the line up change to just the Coyote V8 and Ecoboost V6. That would be a pretty nice power couple and would hopefully end the age old hatred of the V6.

That would be a second choice for me too (58 to 64 Chevy) but I'm in the same boat, don't have the space or time to do any level of restoration, and in my case too cheap to pay someone else to do too much of a restore.

That is also the reason why I haven't given a serious look for the MR2, because I doubt I'll find one within reason that is close to turnkey, or doesn't need some serious restoration to be a decent weekend driver.
