True that. I do leg day at the gym though and I definitely do not look like I have chicken legs

There was advice out there to ramp up by doing once a week, then twice a week, and so on. Might try it out this weekend since I have nothing else to do but final touches on the road trip plan.

Some of the reasons I sold my motorcycle when I got to Vegas were the stupid, oblivious, and drunk drivers. Something like 1 in 4 drivers on the road at any given day and time in LV are drunk. Nights and weekends are higher. If Seattle drivers are really that bad and you're on a bicycle, then the accident causing that two hour traffic jam might involve you.

Speaking of bikes I think it's hilarious how we used to want more narrow tires for speed and lightweight, while it's totally opposite in the car world.
Yep, I found out the hard way, back at the OSU campus, that the lip for the old trolley rails, still imbedded in the streets, just fit the front wheel of my 10 speed bike ..... fit, like in a vice. ....... yep, I crashed ......

Yep, ramping up is a good idea. But, I wouldn't start it before your road trip ..... why? ...... cause, you don't want to start a road, with a sore tail bone, sore legs and your body all skinned up ......

No, not really. What goes on in a browser is parsing and interpreting as opposed to compiling.

Ok, cool! Writing Android apps is fun!
I took your initial post too literally and was wondering if you were compiling Linux kernels, that really can take hours.

I love riding my bicycle. When my full time job was at my father's shop 9.5mi from the house I would commute by bicycle jist for the fun/excercise when it was definitely not going to rain. It took me about 45 mintues (or 35 if I pushed myself). By car it was 15-20minutes in the morning with not too much traffic but nearly 40 coming home during rush hour. So the trip home the bicycle was possibly faster if I could average like 15mph. (I ride a 29er and I'm no athlete so that was hard work though). Now I commute 38min in no traffic and up to an hour in rush hour just to get to the first airport so the car is necessary unless I ride to the airport closer to me (4.5mi away) and then take a small airplane over haha. It takes like 20min to preflight an airplane though so no really time savings.

I'm probably exaggerating just a bit, watching dashcam vids from other cities (and countries!) and those zombies make Seattle zombies look like professional drivers!

Luckily, the route to new job has dedicated bike trails according to google maps. That keeps the bicyclists off the narrow roads away from vehicles. I won't be brave enough to ride in traffic alongside cars anyhow. I think it's illegal to ride on sidewalks but cops have better things to deal with.

You guys make me laugh. I already walk/transit everything but autocross events, road trips, and trips to the lumber yard. And I can't haul sheet goods no matter what... So I may as well not have a car. I could bike if it doesn't destroy my back. Oh, I can't haul my kayaks either... So the car really is just a huge expense for fun. I may just be burned out, 3 days of racing this and next weekend coming up, and I haven't had a weekend off since early April (one was a road trip not an event)

JavaScript is compiled to bytecode at interpretation in modern JS engines, and optimized further as it runs. It's definitely not a traditional compiled language, but it is no longer purely interpreted either. I tripped over some bugs in V8 that led me to some talks on the JIT compiler not long ago. Previously I, also thought it was just an interpreted language.

Public transit ain't bad. Just gotta make sure your city has a decent system. Looking forward to moving to Toronto in August for that reason. Just don't want to always park the car, but at the same time it makes almost zero sense to drive most places, other than the grocery store.

Wonder when Amazon is going to start doing groceries in Canada. Cant wait for that level.of convenience.
