I'm glad to hear the car is great. Glad to know I won't ruin mine by throwing a v8 in there. The original Vorshlag blog posts sold me on the idea anyway. Lots of really good information packed in there, even though the last update is last December.
It has been updated 2 July with tons more info....

This guy has a 5.3L iron block LS and they're fitting a turbo. Details are scarce.
There's a ton of room under the bonnet specially around the headers.....the exception is the throttle body, gets a little tight there.....don't see why not....but at some point the diff and axles and supporting tire size would have to be addressed at higher hp .....which means of course $$$$$$$.

Rick has been getting private photos and email updates since then. He's shared a portion of them with the group. Terry did a massive update to the thread, as was noted. We tried to keep the momentum up while we waited for the headers, and waited, and waited. Before the header wait, and after we had a good production set, we moved forward quickly on the car. So that big gap with no updates...yeah, that was the headers.

On the standalone ECM, if this were a one-off swap we'd talk to the owner about development costs VS a semi-ready off the shelf solution and most likely go with the aftermarket ECM. We'd also have a one-off done in just a few months, about a third of what developing a kit will take.

When developing a kit, and that's what we are doing with Rick's car, we have a lot of competing issues to work around. We try not to modify the tub or subframes if possible. We make sure everything will go together with just hand tools and occasionally a drill. The components need to be affordable and not hinge on any one unusually expensive part, which in many people's eyes will make the kit undesirable unless a substitute part or solution can be found. When doing a development project like this, we eat all the development costs so when a product is built, it's ours. The car owner pays the normal part price, and reduced installation costs, but the majority of hours spent on it are absorbed by the shop. So along those lines our plan is to build a bridge and wiring harness to make this swap as easy as possible, and trying to keep the electronics cost low-ish, and not lock the owner out of the ECM.

That, and if I went with an aftermarket ECM, I'd use a Life Racing unit.

I understand the gap and wasn't knocking you for that, I'm just impatient haha.

Honest curiosity about the kit though, as I'm still considering options... Will you be selling a "stage 0" similar to some of your BMW kits with only the mounting hardware and exhaust components for those who want to find their own ECU solution and engine? Or for people who will need a standalone anyway for mods / tuning capability / ...?

Also, I've had no trouble digging up the t56 magnum xl, but only as a swap-in unit for Coyote mustangs... Am I under the correct impression that it isn't available for the LS-series yet? If so, can the ford bellhousing just be popped off and swapped for a GM small block->T56 bellhousing, or did they mess with the input shaft?

EDIT: wow, I can't believe I didn't see that update until now.... whoops.

The input shaft was re-splined for a GM application specifically for us at the time, but was under the impression this was going to be available to the general public by now as a cataloged option. I'm pretty sure a call to Tremec could remedy this either way.

Rick is correct. We had Tremec custom build the Magnum XL for us with the GM bellhousing and input shaft. It should be a catalog item in the future.

While I can't say it with absolute certainty, I expect we will sell this kit just like the E36 kit. A base kit of hard parts to make ordering easy, and all the hard parts and optional parts available separately.
