Right, we can d-badge it. However, people will still call it.... blah blah blah...

I know its been said before, even by me, but this car needs a completely new name, cause no matter how similar they make it to any other car, it will always be its own car. And if they do revive some name for it, or if they do a shitty job with the new name I will continue calling it the FT 86 (and don't say that means future toyota, I know that and don't care i will call it what i damn well please)

You all know I'm far too selfish for that. Plus, I don't even know where mine is. How would I give it away?

(I've never seen it before. If you can point it out to me and maybe tell me what it does, I may be willing to part with it, for a price.)

Oh my bad...maybe it wasn't on a contract, but on the list of souls to avoid because they aren't worth anything.

I've been thinking about this for a while . . . and I think that Scion might take the car. Think for a second, Scion targets the younger audience. Scion offers low price, low weight, high MPG cars. Scion also offers many performance upgrades. Before Scion's existence, a similar program was ran by Toyota which included the last gen Celica and MR2. Due to low sales, they were cut. This is primarily because the market wasn't right for sport coupes, and everyone was in search of higher MPG. Scion began to show appeal and has potential to bring back sport coupes into Toyota's lineup without altering their affordable luxury lineup. And now that the market is ready for affordable sport coupes, it's only right that they go with Scion. That way the Scion name can begin to attribute some respect around auto enthusiasts and lose it's all show, no go nameplate. Besides, can't blame Scion for shaping into the what the market needed at the time.

Although I do agree with all the scion bashing, and they definetly need a new design director.

If FT-86 comes as a Scion, the interior will look like crap. No, thanks. Toyota just dropped Solara ("sporty" coupe), and the lineup screams for a new sport coupe, not sporty coupe. Toyota really needs a sport model in the lineup because Toyota has the most boring lineup. NO?
I personally agree with you that Scion needs to fire everyone in design department. They can make a good looking car, but they don't bother.

I think, I wrote this some where, but Scion's name is in time attack, drag, even drifting world and win some and making new records... while look at Toyota. What happen to them? Have you seen any Toyota name on any auto world? It's been taken by Scion and Lexus that ACTUAL Toyota name have disappeared. I think, it's right to bring the Toyota name back to the top again... Not Lexus, Not Scion, but Toyota.

See, you say you think its right, I say it's in the company's best interest. Sure we would all love to see the AWD Celica and the Supra making a comeback, but in reality Toyota thinks with their wallets, not with enthusiasts in mind. Even the FT86 is going to be accessible by the general public. It's all about money.

Their lineup doesn't scream for a sport coupe. It quite simply feels and speaks affordable luxury. Every car in their lineup is comfortable, 4 door, and FWD. They don't need a rough, stripped, balls out FR racecar to break their fine composition of well equipped vehicles. Rather, drop it into Scion(without letting them mess with it) and allow Scion to build a better reputation from the consumer than they currently have.

Yes, Scion cars look and feel bad. Don't you think it's Toyota's best interest to change that? Considering that they even have a racing division of the site, I'm almost sure it will come to the states as a Scion. Who knows, maybe we'll see the next Celica turn up as a Scion too.

If the money they want, then they'll totally go w Toyota badge instead of Scion. Even though I hate to see this car name "Celica", but IF they did, how many Celica and other Toyota sports car fans will buy this car instead of naming it Scion fT or whatever they name it (if they bring it to Scion).

Oh and I'm not askin' FT86c to be AWD. If I want AWD boxer engine car, I'll just buy Subie. Long trusted Boxer Engine AWD system Subaru~ lol

I wouldn't be shocked if Toyota gave this project to Scion as their Flagship Auto... It seems like there are two arguments here: 1) Toyota needs the 86 because their lineup lacks such a personality. [this argument ignores Toyota's interest in Scion, which is considerable] And 2) Scion needs this car to increase its reputation and add to its philosophy. [this argument assumes Toyota does not want the car in their lineup because it no longer fits what they have, but it does match their child-brand's goals]

Looks like we might have a scion on our hands... No matter, Im all for the Subie.

Why not scrap the boxer engine and drop a redesigned 2jz-gte and call it a 3jz-gte lol.

Then just call it a Supra, problem solved and i would probably have a heart attack

Consider; emissions + price + demand + design philosophy + current engineering
