Weird, I thought that just held the pulley in place and didn't have anything to do with tension?

I found that when I have problems removing a particular part, it almost always helps to loosen or dislodge something else that that part is connected to first.

Yep! That's it there. I loosened both bolts but it wouldn't move. Maybe there's some debris in there that I didn't notice. Anyone else have this issue?

I used a hammer to get it to budge, just barely. I loosened it completely and then put a bunch of grease on the track to see if it helps for next time.

I live in a relatively mild environment too, that grime on the equipment isn't from weather but from coolant getting sprayed within the engine compartment. I'm going to get it cleaned once I get it running again.

is the skunk2 sandwich plate the only plate that with work with this kit? i prefer the mocal as it has a tstat but not sure if it has enough height to it. any reason the kraftwerks plate does not have a tstat?

also last question... anyone running the the ultra series rad as a engine oil cooler with this kit?

We Just installed the Ultra rad in a C38 car this past weekend, its a tight fit, but did fit. We have not ran the lines for the oil cooler yet, But the coolant would keep the oil temps at the proper level and would not need a tstat for it.

Have you measured the increase in oil needed yet?

I.e. 5.8 quarts to x.x

my biggest concern is over cooling the oil. i dont see myself tracking this summer, but i know ill end up going at least 1-2 times. told myself i wouldnt last summer either LOL.

my understanding of a liquid2liquid cooler is that it will help heat the oil faster as well? is that correct?

I have the forester oil cooler that uses the coolant to chill the oil. With a 180F thermostat I keep oil under 200F. How it holds up on the track is anyones guess as I have yet to track it. Coolant hits 180F and stops with the fans on daily driving, and oil stays within a 15 degree window of that.

For super high heat track usage an air to water oil cooler is better suited. Just get a thermostat that fits on the lines for cold weather, and a block off plate.

Don't get the mishimoto thermostat, it's way too cold for daily driving.

I thought the mishimoto Tstat was rated at 190F?

As you get more experienced, the FA20DIT oil cooler will eventually not be able to cool your oil fast enough, and you will get runaway overheating, as with a non-oil-cooled car.

The only oil-water solution I've seen that works well are custom setups with HUGE Laminova cores.

Remember that an oil-water heat exchanger increases the cooling load of the coolant system.

In 55F weather coolant stayed around 165F, too cold for me.

Yeah the oil cooler isn't perfect, but for someone like me who doesn't track my car regularly it's perfect. Keeps the oil in check for bashing on it on the street.

For the track I'd have to run a thicker weight oil and pit when temps got away.

Which is why I said the air to oil coolers are for track users.
