It's a peakier tire; the window of opportunity for good laps in a session is smaller. Additionally, the AD08R heat cycles less dramatically than the RS3. The RS3 drops off pretty hard as you use it.

Which tire is peakier?

SCCA class for FR-S

Hi, I'm new to this stuff and I'm registering to take an Autocross class but the application needs the SCCA Autocross Class for my vehicle and I don't know where she would be. The car is mostly stock. Just a full Aero Kit, ACUtek tune and drop in TRD air filter. Does anyone know what class my car fits into?
Thanks, and sorry if this has been gone over before.

You get this figured out yet? There's a decent number of guys autocrossing here in Phoenix. Maybe check in the All Arizona thread.

Gas is pretty cheap considering you're buying liquid explosive dinosaurs.

Are the twins eligible for NASA TTE if I run skinnier than stock tires? I know the base class is TTD and you can get points back for running skinny tires, but is anyone doing this?

Not sure this is the thread but tune means STX. Areo may be your undoing, very little is ever permitted (factory only in STX). It's probable locally no one will object, and you'll be slow for a while (especially without a proper alignment) so start there.

SCCA classing is very picky with mods. Thinks you think are basic/not major can be huge for classing. Is there anything else done(wheels/tires/interior removal/exhaust with out cats/ect).

You are in at least STX. Post up what you mean by full aero kit as that will likely be the issue.

There was discussion about this over in the C-Street autocross thread. He likely belongs in SM due to the aero kit (assuming it's not an RS model anyway) but nobody locally will care since the kit's weight will offset any marginal gain at autocross speeds. The tune though puts him in STX no matter what since that actually makes a very noticeable difference.

Fraid not. Just what I stated. Stock everything else. Just Aero, Tune and TRD air filter.

Yeah this. ^^^

The stock spoiler is considered "aero" in NASA TT because it's not on the base car.

Getting too hot for XP10s? This is after 4 30 minute sessions at Shenandoah Circuit at Summit Point. I can't compress my braking zones any, I'm already bumping ABS occasionally and trail braking as much as I can. Stock tires are definitely limiting me a bit in that regard. I'm not using the pedal dance (obviously, since I have ABS). I'll have to snap a pic of the pads sometime this week after I get home. I've got another 4 sessions tomorrow. The brakes feel great, tons of bite and zero fade, but they feel a bit "gritty" and there's some bits of what appears to be pad material smeared on the surface.

Sorry for the crappy pics, I thought my phone focused on the rotor, I guess not.
