Why is it when I see the RS I just love the car but for money I would rather just get a Fiesta ST and have way more smiles per dollar

It'll be interesting to see how things hold up. That drivetrain is too complicated for my taste. I can already see those diffs going kaboom. Also, if Jalopnik is to be believed, a Ford rep said the drivetrain is already pretty much maxed at 350/350, so not much headroom for tuning.

@kch I just read that today too.

Tuners wanting to push it even further will be pressing their luck.

I don't know why they would have it maxed out in regards to longevity.

As Expected, The New Ford Focus RS Is A Certified Hoonigan

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtuqPAkl-SY[/ame]

Quote:
The first reviews of the all-new 2016 Ford Focus RS are in and as we all expected, the high-performance hatchback is an incredible car.

Tested here by Car Throttle with their usual British humor, we get to see the new Focus RS up close in the sunshine of Spain, both on the Valencia MotoGP circuit and the surrounding mountain roads, giving us a good idea of how the car performs across different road surfaces and in its various driving modes. Yes, that also includes drift mode.

Given all the hype surrounding the car, there was certainly a possibility that it would fall short and fail to meet everyone's expectations. Based on this review however, it seems that Ford has created a car worthy of the fabled RS badge and capable of matching it with much more expensive cars, like the Mercedes-AMG A45 and Audi RS3 Sportback.

Thanks to its 350 hp, 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine similar to the Mustang's, the Focus RS is capable of accelerating to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds. When combined with an advanced all-wheel drive system utilizing torque vectoring that can send 70 per cent of power to one rear wheel, the car is even capable of pulling 1g during cornering.

All of the class-leading tech of the model is available from $35,730 in the US.

The RS would fall in the Fast & Cheap category

I'm still just waiting to see how the cars hold up. Everybody still praising the car and nobody has really even driven it yet.

Plus, the markup is just hilarious! Nearly 50k OTD in some places for a hopped up FOCUS!

It's amazing how much people lose their f*cking minds when Ken Block is involved in the marketing strategy.

It's like $55k here in Australia.

With these driving reviews rolling in, it really sounds like Ford nailed this car.

It's making me hesitate buying a BRZ.

For $40k I can get a new BRZ, but with super charger and suspension/brakes/wheels it's up at the $60k mark - more expensive, not as capable, not as spacious.

I do love Subaru and hate Ford so that might make me get a BRZ, but seriously, this Focus RS sounds like it is bananas crazy fun to drive.

i can imagine getting a used one in 2 years. Drives like new only needs transfer case, transmission, and tune.

Yup, a Focus RS will not always be the most reliable used car. It's really quite different from a twin. The Focus will make you look like a rockstar. The twin will make you a better driver. Focus can wag the tail, but it's not a long drifter according to reviews. I mean, it's RWD vs AWD performance. What do you want? Are you a turn and mash the throttle guy or a turn and feel the rear grip kinda guy?

A Focus RS with a full downforce package and 500WHP is going to be something else.
