Wow great work!

I dont want to sound like a fanboy or anything, but could someone, just for nostalgia's sake, do these above renderings in a Panda paintjob in white? perhaps also red?

ps: with black wheels ofcourse!

I was thinking about partial-vinyl jobs as well, but then I started wondering how it would affect the paint in the long run. I would assume that if you leave it on the car for a long time, the elements (especially the sun) would wear the exposed areas of paint so that IF you decide to remove the vinyl stripes, those previously covered areas would probably look noticeably different. Anyone with any experience with vinyl-wrapped cars? I think wrapping the entire car would fix any uneven weathering issues, but does the adhesive affect paint as well?

I haven't had a wrapped car for more than 2 years, so i couldn't tell you the long term affects of partially wrapped cars that has two different exposure surfaces. But if your worried about the paint underneath the wrap don't worry about it. its nearly completely protected and there are no other adhesive properties other than the non-slip backing of the vinyl. My biggest concern with vinyl is exposure to direct heat. Engine bays are the worst places to wrap and from my experience they don't last more than several months, and places where high heat sun can beat on the car for weeks without a break. The corners start to warp and air can start to undo the finish.

Yep, I used to work at a sign shop. So, I was dealing with vinyl on vehicles all the time. I can tell you, if the vinyl is properly applied and removed months or years later, the paint under the vinyl will be in better condition than the paint that was exposed to the elements the whole time. However, the thing with vinyl is that it dries out, shrinks, and cracks over time. Which is why the vinyl comes in different year ratings (3 year, 6 year, etc) and the higher the year rating, the more expensive it gets.

Well, I was more or less talking about say, getting the car originally White or Red (as seen in the Panda Pictures) and then JUST doing the Black stripes (what makes it trully a panda job) or is that bad since the part where the stripes will be, look different later? or is it better to just do a Vinyl job of ALL white/red and then on TOP of that all that vinyl, put on the stripes?

So you're saying you want to cover the car in a single solid color vinyl... and then put a vinyl design on top of the other vinyl...

Yeah, no

I honestly love the panda look, i'm thinking of getting the magnetic gray metallic with the black panda bottom, all in paint. Because if i can start with a factory color and only add trim paint... why not?

I would get a red or white car and put the vinyl on it, just make sure you get the longest lasting vinyl you can. And get it professionally installed, it's easy to mess up and/or damage the paint job on the car if you don't know what you're doing.

Ideally, you would do it with paint so you don't have to worry about the vinyl cracking. But, if you were going to wrap the whole car in vinyl, I would probably coat the whole car in one color, then put the secondary vinyl over it. Other wise you have a few scenarios with an all vinyl job:
1: you butt the edges of the vinyl together so that they don't overlap. This leaves a crack that will widen over time as the vinyl shrinks and collect grime.
2: you overlap the vinyl a bit to remove the gap. This leaves a slightly raised ridge along the border that will be glaringly obvious and not look as good.
3: you Wrap the whole car in the color of your choice, but still have to run into the problems in scenario 1 and 2 since most single color vinyl maxes out at a 4-6 foot width. then you place the secondary color over the primary vinyl you don't have the problems in Scenarios 1 & 2 between the primary and secondary.

When you see a vehicle wrapped in an advertising vinyl, the seams aren't as noticeable due to the rest of the obnoxious graphics that cover it.
