As dumb as some parts guys can be, I have a feeling if you drive your BRZ to a Toyota dealership and try to buy a part, they'll probably not have it in stock or recommend you go to a Subaru dealership. I know that was the case at the Ball Honda/Acura dealership back in the days.

It's going to be weird at first when it comes to parts and both dealerships carrying it; Toyota carrying boxer parts and Subaru carrying Toyota parts. California plates but RHD!! Love how you guys think that oil filters are application specific to the extent that the question of "will the oil filter be a rebranded" whatever is a concern.
Here is a list of cars that use same filter as an 06 STI ...I am sure you will be repulsed to know that a Kia Optima and the STI use the same filter! Oh! Nose!: Quote:

It should be obvious to anyone that's ever bought an oil filter from an autozone/etc that the same filter is used on many different cars
