It's MUCH better in person. All the promo images are promoting how aggressive it is to teener's, wrong target now.

The front bumper doesn't actually bother me. Looks cool to me actually.

I still don't like it. I may consider some plastic work up front.

The rims match the car perfectly and look great since the front end is much more aggressive now. (Though i bet many will still replace them with some ugly aftermarket wheels)

The headlights make the car look so much more modern! I have never been into the headlight/tail light scene but wow....I want new headlights now.

The 86 logo on headlight is still lame.

Agree, the logo is lame, as well as the LED's.

86 badge on side also looks tacked on. Not a fan.

Looks like it's just a stick-on according to the parts manual. Mine are going away.

Taillights look good but i still like the 1st gen more.

Agree.

Interior is where this car lets me down. The seats look very bland and boring. The dash looks cheap and ugly with that fabric and not a fan of the steering wheel.

The seat fabric is far and away better than the original. I'm not sure where this "cheap and ugly" is coming from. It looks and feels better than the FR-S's. I actually like the new wheel.

That aside, it's still a cool looking car.

I like the 1st gen more, but this refresh is nice also. They both have there own look.

Overall thoughts;
First gen looks more 90's and classy.
The refresh looks more modern and cool.
Going from a '13 FR-S to the '17 86 means I missed the two(?) incremental "updates" to the FR-S, so I may be a bit behind in how it feels. The 86 has grown up a bit, and it's fantastic. It deserves to sell like crazy.

Hey you misunderstood me on the fabric. I mean the fabric on the dash...i guess it's called suede?

I was talking about that being cheap looking and ugly. Not the fabric on the seat

Ah! It's called "alcantara", and I agree, it's not the greatest. The fake carbon fiber was goofy as well, though.

Oh okay, that's what it is haha. I'm going to edit my post than above!

Anyways, personally preference and little things that we like and dislike, but at the end of the day I think Toyota still did a good job.

I think they did a fantastic job. I hope someone who has a '16 FR-S can drive one and report on the differences.

Regarding that armrest. It's very nice and I always wanted one until I found out that when you want to put drinks inside, the armrest opens up to the passenger side and sticks up making it very uncomfortable for the passenger. It's great if you never drink in the car but I like my Second Cup & Tim Hortons <3
I couldn't agree more. I often carry drinks in my car that wouldn't fit or work well in the door bottle holders. With that said, while I like the OEM look of the EDM armrest, it would drive me nuts having it stand up. That is why I went with the OEM scion armrest. It provides me with the best of both worlds. An armrest is available when needed while still providing me with cup space and if I need both cup holders available I just slide the armrest to the back of its track. Anyways, just my .02 cents!

Having driven a Tesla Model S For a couple days last week, I can say the Alcantara interior is the worst ever. Especially in a dash. Hideous. Looks old within days.

Hmm. I does look a bit 240-ish. I like it even more now! They are all (FR-S/BRZ/86) such fantastic little cars.

At least they had the sense not to put it on the steering wheel, where it gets grunged up and disgusting in a matter of months, and can't really be cleaned.

I saw a new Lexus today with identical paint- incredible looking in sunlight.

Point being, it might indeed be a render- but I saw a Toyota product with the exact same look in terms of paint- so it could be real.

Yeah, I know FHM makes them. Just saying.
