Idle dip and raise with air cons witching on is nothing abnormal, especially on smaller engines. There is load added/taken away from the engine when this happens, so of course it will have a slight affect on the idle.

^ Yup, not so much worried about this. But quite worried about the chirping issue.

Hi there,
Please don't put words in other peoples' mouths. I brought the car in for the idle issue; I've noticed absolutely zero chirping. These may be separate issues. Thanks!

EDIT: to the guy below who said 'wat,' in this post: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...8&postcount=14 , the guy says that the camshaft / oil valve replacement were for the chirping issue. They were not.

No worries Stu L Tissimus, like I said in the opening post I was heavily relying on memory. All I'm doing is informing the Australian 86/BRZ community about this issue. I'm not exactly up to date with this topic.

Btw, if it isn't an camshaft/oil valve replacement issue then can you please inform us as to what the problem is? Looks like you know what's going on.

In terms of chirping issue vs idle issue I put them separately under two different bold headings in hope of informing ppl that they may be perhaps two different issues, hope that clears it up.

So far i haven't had any chirping or idling issues... in my 86 at the moment. Have done 500km so far. Build date for my 86 was April

Idles regularly around 600-800 rpm, and when first starting up around 1.2k

testing when going 70-80km and slowing down for red light and shifting into neutral and clutch out. At first, when close to stopping it drops to about 1k then does a mini dip to about 800 and back up again, once stopped waiting for a little for the lights to change it idle's around 600-700.

So far no issues for me and i hope it stays that way

Quite scary though considering the link to the US one where whiteout's FRS died

My wrx runs exactly like this, so I doubt you will have the same issues as the US guys.

Does anyone know what difference there is in the fuel quality between the US and AUS??
Seems odd that they run 91/93 octane yet we are told to run 98 (95 at a minimum)

Lets also keep in mind there is a warranty and ALL cars have all kinds of weird issues. Pick the most reliable car you can think of and then find its service bulletins and or recalls. They all have them and they all have a horror story here and there. The issue is the percentage of cars that have them and Toyota and Subaru are typically very very good is this respect. I am not concerned but I will stay up to date on issues that others are having. Its basically putting your faith in statistics.

I've noticed some serious condensation in my tail lights every morning ( i'll try to take a photo tomorrow) that seems to go away by the time I get to work and look at the again. Has anyone else in Aus noticed this problem? Should I be concerned and talking to my dealer?
