California? Probably the freakn' Kia hamsters sabotaging the competition!
As far as damage goes you would probably already know it if something critical was damaged. If they built a nest then that is when they really cause havoc since they chew stuff up to use as bedding. Looks like they lost interest before going that far.

Damn hamsters. Just because I switch from a Forte to an FR-S doesn't mean you attack my new car.

Here's hoping they DON'T take interest in my car again...

Oh god please no, unless you like your house cat bringing in dead rats, one of my friends had this happen with his cat it was hoarding the things it found behind where it slept

For sure, an exterminator is on the top of my list. I'll still buy some traps for now, and set them down in the garage, which should answer the question of where I park.

I did say before that everything runs fine, but should I worry about any very important lines being damaged?

Too hard to delve in deep into the car to see whats been bitten by rats, ask the dealer to check for things anyway. As for the house look for holes in the garage and entry points, Does the garage sit flush and such with the building when closed? or is there a gap? Sealing the garage of holes from windows or other places would be the best bet while you wait for an exterminator

What does it sound like? I thought the infamous cricket is the only problem.

The funny thing is there's no crickets in my FR-S at all; the rats must have taken care of them.

Oh, I do have (sort of) a big, black, feral cat. He's kind of like a teenage son, he comes around and eats and sleeps ...... then goes off catting around ..

Whatever he brings in and doesn't eat, the raccoons pick over ...... then the possums finish off any leftovers. If the coons and possums get too numerous, the coyotes thin em out .........

But, I don't have a rat problem ......

I had a not so similar problem. I had noticed a really odd odor in the trunk. I took off the false floor and found the Styrofoam chewed up in a lot of places and rat piss around the spare tire area. I took out all the contents of the trunk and removed the two black grommets which I used for drain holes. Sprayed a shit load of cleaner and hosed down the whole trunk. Haven't had any problems since then but I have kept an eye on it.
