I never tractionized my tires, hadn't even heard of it, but after a quick Googling it sounds like it kills the tires' life. Probably not ideal since I'm guessing you don't plan on having a 2nd set of winter tires for racing.

I ran on my regular WS-80s last year and did just fine, taking 1st and 2nd in the studless RWD class at the two events we went to with LCSCC.

However, if you do want a 2nd set of winter wheels/tires, I will have a set of Hankook Icebears in 205/55/16 available this week after I swap my new WS80s onto my new set of winter wheels. You know how to get a hold of me.

I used to Icerace in NY and NH. Rubber-to-ice, Menards, home-screws and V-bar chains. All with old Saabs though...NY was "road course" and NH was 1/4mile oval.

All classes are fun. With street tires nothing beats the Blizzak WS series (if no tractionizing)

Friend from Japan came back last year and tried for the first time. BRZ has massive understeer on the ice so beware. He found a snow bank pretty quick and bent the lower control arm.

Check out www.icerace.com . These guys can help with any questions you may have. There was a guy who ran his BRZ for a few years too, hopefully he'll chime in with his thoughts.

If you can drive fast on the ice, you can drive fast anywhere.

In Sweden we usually by used studed rally tires from rally drivers for cheap,
What's in there eyes is no longer top notch, is plenty of driving left for weekend tracker
But change tires on spot, and don't drive them on the street, because when they get heated, they tend to loosen up around the studs, and when they go at full throttle, they will shoot away like a bullet and ripping right through the fenders.
