how would they even install the CF roof securely? don't they have to spot weld the roof on? I don't think you can do that with CF lol

Body shop uses special glue to glue the roof and chassis together. Same concept as BMW M series & other sports cars with cf roof

So the roof in our cars isn't actually a stressed member of the chassis like other sports cars? It's that metal part that runs down the center in between the two humps?

It help a bit, but roof isn't doing anything other than covering you (& airflow). Major sports car nowdays worry bout bottom chassis stiffness than the roof... but that doesn't mean it's okay to cut the roof to make a vert. lol

Think of it this way.

Going from just purely on the price of the part, it's a 385% price increase, but with the cost of the job factored in, you can get a sick ass CF roof for a small increase of only 35%!

But yeah, that really sucks that it ends up costing so much just due to the nature of the repair.

Ever change a roof skin? There are really valid reasons why they cost so much in labour.

the major stress bearing structure is the 3 horizontal and 1 vertical brace you see in the video/pic. The roof panel itself is responsible to protect you from the elements and aerodynamics, albeit a tiny bit of rigidity support.

Some workers have the ability to "suck" the dent up, and make it likes nothing happens, without handling the paint.
Not perfect but very cheap.
