You may hear us old guys talk about "bias ply" tires that were used before radials were invented.
That's them.

Back in the good 'ol day (1967), Goodyear asked Carrol Shelby to do a promo for their new economy tires (thuderbolts) with one of their GT500s. Shelby agreed, but without anyone else knowing he decided to build an absolute monster of a car that still ran on economy rubber. So Shelby's had his chief engineer build the Super Snake. All Aluminum 427 racing engine, new suspension, lightweight wheels, braided lines, pistons, the works.

The test was supposed to be a 500mi endurance test to prove the longevity of the tires with an everyday GT500 as the eyecandy... Instead, Shelby jumped into his new supercar and took it a few laps around the track at up to 170mph before handing the keys off the his engineer who finished the 500 miles around the track with an average speed of 142mph.

After rolling back into the bay to inspect the tires, it was confirmed that they still had %97 tire tread left.

The tires were 7.75" x 15" Goodyear Whitewall Thunderbolts

Finally watched video in the OP.

I want a car show produced by Wilman/Clarkson/Hammond/May (with occasional cameos) starring Chris Harris, Mr. Regular, and Rutledge Wood.

Edit: I really just want more Mr. Regular.

Of the older Mustangs, the '69 Boss 429 was pretty badass.

Huge full hemi engine, a transmission that probably could take a shell from a German Panzer and shake it off, and a nine-inch ring gear rear end (probably 4.11's) that was equally bulletproof. Handled like a freakin' brick. This was a car capable of killing you if you weren't very good and/or very careful.

As a sentimental favorite, I have to go with the '65 convertible, though. Everything the car was supposed to be from the beginning, before people started doing insane stuff to it:

Specs on the Boss 429:
http://www.carsession.com/car-specs/...-boss-429.html

Horsepower not that high, but the torque spec is insane:

450 ft/lbs (610 N/m) at 3400 rpm, HIGHER than the GT40s that won Le Mans 1,2 and 3.

That'll twist your tires.
