After a year of owning my FRS did I learn how to start shifting higher in the rev band. I've owned Hondas before and the longer gearing in those cars made shifting at 3K RPM pretty normal. The FRS has both anemic torque and short gears. By shifting later in the RPM's you get to stay in gear a bit longer and get to stay higher in the power band.

Yep, once you do this you will find the car to be much quicker almost all of the time. There is a famous torque dip in these cars and once you learn how to drive around it, it makes the car more enjoyable.

These cars are low to the ground and stiff as hell. They are not going to be very forgiving with rattles, etc. But with some of those rattles come the driver focused cabin and that stiffness. Obvious rattles you can chase down, but my advice would be to just improve the sound system so you don't hear the rattles or the cricket noises from the fuel system

Enjoy the car, there are not many like it out there.

Thanks for the center console advice. I got the full sized one. I'm just not that jazzed about spending an extra 200 bucks and spending an hour drilling into my new (to me) car. It still seems odd to me that they didn't include it on all cars, instead forcing the end users to have to turn around and do it.

At least person on here used 3M tape to install the full size center console. That would probably be a good option if you don't want to drill holes.

What I really want is a combination of the full-size armrest, with the sliding top mechanism.

I would look into a Android head unit. You can run Google maps tethered to your phone's data, or install a gps app with downloadable offline maps and use the gps antenna.

The Dashlinq4 is extremely popular.

Supra was my dream car in high school. Bought right before the first fast and furious movie came out so the prices were still relatively cheap on a used one. I drove for about 5 years, got tired of the expensive gas, expensive oil changes, expensive insurance, 300 dollar tires, ect. It also had 120k miles when I sold it and thought it was better to get rid of it before I had to start replacing engines and turbos and that sort of thing.

My 05 Corolla XRS red lines at 8500RPM, I am so used to that, so when driving the FR-S, I have been pegging the rev limiter constantly!

Little did you know that now even a crappy beat up TT now goes for well over $30k.

Fwiw you can setup a Shortcut screen where you choose the icons that you want (mine has ipod, Bluetooth, am/Fm, contact list and navigation address input screens linked).
It isn't perfect but you can cut out a lot of unnecessary screens that way.

For throttle response, consider a lighter crank pulley (approx $100) or maybe even an electronic throttle controller to sharpen that drive-by-wire

Not sure if you have considered a diff swap. I'm looking into a 4.556 for my A/T (4.10 is stock I believe). Not overly expensive and is a nice stealth mod if worried about warranty. Also really good if you are looking to stay NA and does wonders when you add headers and a tune later to remove the torque dip.
