I'm pretty damn pissed about this whole situation.
Yea, I wouldn't have been too happy about it either.

For those that are all hot and bothered about how the car was potentially treated though, I have to add I don't see the 86 as any different than any other new/used car I've purchased. With the exception of my MK1 MR2 that I basically drove off the delivery truck, I've bought plenty of cars (performance and otherwise) with no real knowledge about how they had been treated for the 50 to 130,000 miles they had on them.

I can't think of a single breakdown that I could point to that had to do with how they were driven before I purchased them, that I didn't figure out in advance.

WTF?? $300 a month? Is this because of the car or your driving?

I'd walk. No questions asked. I'd also contact soa and report the dealership for their very poor service.

$150 is what Ill actually be paying after I write some of it off. But yeah being young sucks sometimes. I have a perfectly clean driving record. Also I am Canadian so that might cause some mark up there

Walk away from that deal. Tell them you will wait for the next one and expect more then $500 compensation. I know $500 isn't much and 250km on the odo is 250km of launching and sideways drifts. We all know this.

Ok Potentially how much damage could have been done to the car from just launching. That 4k RPM limit really that strict?

How did the dealer mess up? Sounds to me like it was the transport company or Subaru of Canada.
That the dealer is willing to make any concession seems fair to me. It's not really their fault but it seems as though they are trying to do right by you.

If it was me, I'd walk away from the car. These cars really make everyone want to "test" them out. I don't let anyone drive my customers cars other than gas and to clean-up.

If it was an Outback or Forester I'd say that you were being a pansy. But I wouldn't trust anyone to drive these cars for over a mile.

You can check the average MPG with that information display correct? I would think you could conclude if they were driving it with their foot to the floor, or not, using that.

I can destroy any engine, transmission or clutch without moving the car one inch. Imagine just one of those test drives being a person who has never driven a manual before...now apply that to 250kms.

That's why there was the huge thread on initial mileage for our new owners...most wanting/expecting 10 miles and under.

Because who knows if the people who test drove it can actually drive manual. When I was shopping for cars I was at a mini dealer and someone on a test drive was doing something awful to that transmission before he even got out of the lot.
