So the dealer messed up...

The dealer that I had preordered a BRZ didn't get the car. (Have the VIN). Apparently it ended up about 100 km away. That dealership decided to test drive it 250 Km so my dealer is offering $500 off the price tag or I wait until mid july for a BRZ....

Is $500 too little? Should I be getting more?

I personally would wait another month to get a new one. Maybe you should go with another dealer instead.

It's unknown how the dealer drove those 250 km, but I'm guessing he/she tried to see what it could do.

I'd wait till mid July. At least it's sooner than some of us have to wait(October guess from SoA).

If you really want that car, demand more refund. Those 250 KMs were probably mostly hard, and mostly test drives from the public. If I were you though I would wait. I'd be quite angry if I were you for the hassle though.

If I were in your shoes I would probably accept $750+ off the price, assuming that everything physically looks ok (i.e. no rock chips, scratches, marks on the interior, etc). I wouldn't assume that the dealer drove it like he stole it, he may very well have treated it like if it was his.

250km really isn't that much, before you know it you'll have put on your own 250km's, but now you get a car that much cheaper.

EDIT: I misread the OP, I thought it was the owner of the dealer that drove it for 250km's, not having several people test drive it for a total of 250km's. In that case I'd want at least $1,000 off, or wait until next month.

Perhaps you could ask for some form of extended warranty to cover the potential issues caused by the likely abuse that happened in those first 250 km's.

Subaru Hamilton has a WRB BRZ for sale. I was going to go for it but changed my mind.

I wouldn't get that BRZ. Who knows how the other people that test drove it treated it. If anything they beat the car in that short time frame. I'd wait the month and get a brand new one.

baldolera 06-18-2012 01:26 PM

I'd wait and also demand a form of compensation for the hassle of not having your new car for another month.

What he said..

I've seen one BRZ on the roads and it had dealer plates and was doing about 95 with some hard acceleration and very aggressive driving. I'd be a little concerned, especially if it is a MT.

$2 a Km seems like a pretty decent deal to me. Assuming you mean off MSRP, I'd be just cheap enough to take it. I'd probably say $1000, then accept $750 or $500.

I agree it was probably not treated "gently" as some have said, but you could always check the OBDII readouts to see if there is anything obvious.

Nope!

Weird eh?

My insurance costs me $300 per month.... So this covers about a month of driving. I'm gonna call in to see if I can get extended warenty + $1000.

I'm pretty damn pissed about this whole situation.
