I wouldn't be so quick to say seconds, but yes the time is limited.

Again it depends on the heat setting. Ive done this on two Supras, a lancer, 240sx, a 636 and my buddies r6. We used low heat for 5 minutes. Just enough to soften the glue but not melt it. So yea it depends on the setting. Put it on 500 for 20 minutes and it may just fall apart and my statement will have no weight.

Update on this. Had my buddy. He baked it 3-5 different times. Still couldn't get it to close back up. Basically the headlight is screwed.

I think replacing the adhesive should do the trick. Try this, it'll cost less than $30.

Remove all of the old adhesive and replace it with an even amount of Butyl tape. 3M Window Weld is the product many use for headlights.
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/3M-08621-Window-Weld-Ribbon-Sealer/dp/B00063Z4FM"]Amazon.com: 3M 08621 Window-Weld 5/16" x 15' Round Ribbon Sealer Roll: Automotive[/ame]

  1. Press the Window weld into the channel
  2. Heat with a heat gun to about 110 F
  3. Press the housing into the channel
  4. Clamp the housing down with a few clamps (careful, don't crack your housing). Measure to get the right size. 5. Remove any excess Window Weld
  6. Let it cure overnight

Do it like this and you should be good.

Curious if after all the "fix" work... if one of the methods work... if the darn thing will separate again -- due to the heat.

Nothing close to this happening on the other side?

You can try to re-seal them, but either way they will either crack or the lens finish will fade dramatically or the wiring will burn up, I have even seen entire projectors fall loose. they usually last a little over a year on most of their lightning applications and they do not hold up at all like OE lighting or products of reputable manufactures.
