Do any TRD parts say on the box or in directions "to be installed only by a toyota or scion authorized installer." I'm sure some do but maybe not all.
I wouldn't hang my hat on the semantics of the use of the word "may". I would totally expect that most dealers (there would of course be exceptions) would use the word "will" in it's place. The warranty is vey clear in stating "Part failure caused by improper installation by anyone other than an authorized Toyota or Scion dealer". This would also include fully licensed techs from anyplace other than an Authorized Dealer. I think you would have a hard time collecting on a warranty now matter how well versed you are or how closely you followed the directions.
Really it comes down to the whole "you gotta pay to play" aspect of modding in that you take a gamble with warranty coverage as soon as you put a wrench to a bolt.
