Anyway, the Celica argument has been done, many times on this forum, heck, it was probably even bigger than the scion thread, it has been done to death. Realistically, if Toyota is going to give this car a name from their previous lineup, it's going to be Celica, because they sure as hell won't call it a corolla. All bets seem to point to a new name though. Quote:

When I think of bat shit, I think crazy, and that makes for at least an interesting 2 month fling, rather than just a one night..... but yeah... boring won't get you very far. |

I don't why you guys are calling it a hatchback...To me it's a fastback or is fastback just a dying term for cars now.

I'm calling it a hatchback cus the rear window comes up with the boot lid (presumably) if it doesn't... Then it's a coupe

if its a round bubbly compact car like a golf or a civic then i usually refer it as a Hachback.
If its a compact car with a rear glass that comes up with the trunk lid, thats not designed as a large storage area, then i call it a fastback. If its a midsized car with a liftback, i call it Wagon thats just me, and it hasnt given me any problems with classifying it as such.

actually it has a conventional trunk even though it has fastback styling. so it's not a liftback, unfortunately. to the op: you can't be serious. to each his own, i guess.

I'd pay $1,000 more for a proper liftback. Used to have one (Celica 6th Gen) and it's so much better than a trunk; both in looks and function.

there was a poll for liftback vs trunk on this forum a while back. liftback beat out trunk 2 to 1.

i prefer it as being a coupe (ie seperate trunk) as having a liftback (hatch) means a big heavy mass that does nothing to support the chassis, meaning the car has to weight more and have less room inside (effectively) to have same strength
hatch would be nice, but all the rigidity between the C pillars are gone, so then you have to add aftermarket pillar bracing (again more weight)

if they made it out of cf it wouldnt be bad and if not someone will be making an aftermarket one out of cf eventually guaranteed, I'd prefer hatch. As for the ridgitity, the braces dont weigh THAT much especially if you could save a ton of weight with cf
