Anybody notice any change in engine response/torque/hp when installing just the inlet tube? Was it worth the purchase?

I've heard the supertek heat soaking the engine, as well as mishimoto claiming the resonator adds horsepower.... Is this with all inlet tubes?

OP, I am upgrading to a grimmspeed intake very soon, so if you haven't bought one already, I'll sell you my black Perrin inlet tube and Perrin filter for a good price.Lol. I noticed a little better throttle response and deeper note coming from the engine. The engine bay does look a lot cleaner too. PM me if you're interested.

Let me know if you still have the inlet hose because I might be interested

It's currently still on my car, but I will definitely sell it once I get the Grimmspeed.

I has to smooth airflow over that according hose. If you are wanting to remove the sound tube and/or clean up the engine bay too, it certainly does that. Something like this, potentially, could improve throttle response with a reserve of filtered air stored as a buffer to sudden throttle inputs.

Were I to do it, I would combine it with some heat reflective insulation to keep incoming air as cool and dense as possible. I would suggest that would yield more power improvement that smoothed out air flow.

Link for that tube, for those who haven't seen it before, like me.

If it were me, I'd get the inlet tube and a high flow filter and call it a day for intake mods.

Also a great reason for this upgrade!

I've been wondering about this tube for a while now too. Sorta reminds me of the Password JDM intakes I've seen on Civics does anyone have this or have information on it besides the sales pitch?

Well as a honda fan boy, ive seen some similar tricks in engine set ups. Usually just the piping getting bigger wider at one point and then funneling its way back to the size it once was. Forgive my non engineering speaking tongue but I believe this is supposed to give the air a more dense charge. I think the general idea here for whale penis intakes is that the air collects in the fat area. That air from low rpms eventually gets more dense at higher rpms, eventually cycling its way into the TB. Dense air=more hps???

As a reference though, the whale penis intake from PWJDM was just a show piece and didnt work verywell it mainly picks up air from the hot ass engine bay of civics.(past FA5 owner here) I think since this one is actually connected to the inlet it should work fairly well, or at least not hurt anything. It would be interesting to see a hardcore NA guy run this and notice any differences.

Go for the intlet tube like Mishimoto and slap in a high end filter like Blitz, KN, or aFe and your set.
