+1 on the tech stream route, that is how I disabled mine. Ignore the "It's the law fanboys." There are certain situations where a seatbelt is not needed. And although there are seatbelt laws, there are no laws saying manufacturers must enable a warning chime.

you think if you go get the chime turned off with your oem seats then install your aftermarket seats would it still be off? or would u have to go to the dealer for them to disable again.

Its a car setting, not a seat setting. Doesn't matter what seats are installed.

Seatbelt used on person to prevent injury when in accident... we must not give a crap about our pets flying through the windshield in a crash and getting run over and splattered all over the highway. =)

How about just buckling the seatbelt?

I hope your friend knows that you can turn off the seat belt chime on the tC. It's quite easy to do actually (without the need for any software like with these cars).
