I hate the feel - or lack thereof - from the stock clutch. I removed the damping device and the check valve that was in my CL, and it made a huge difference. Ill be seeing if this car has the same thing.

Wait until you get back into a car with a normal clutch. When I stepped on the clutch to start my STI I had to double check to make sure I wasn't stepping on the brake pedal.

I'll try to remember to see if it's easily found/removed like this. The usual Subaru delay valve is a bit harder to get to.

The light clutch was one of my complaints as well. Looked under the hood today. There is only about 15 inches of clutch line in total. About half hardline, half rubber. The connection between the hardline and rubber appeared to just be a standard fitting, vs a delay valve. I don't think we are gonna find any improvement there.

The hardline is mostly arranged in a large loop. Probably to act sort of like a damper. You could probably regain a *tiny* bit of feel with a braided line straight from the master cylinder to the slave.

Evidently I'm in the minority. Although a bit more 'feel' might be nice for some people, strengthening the clutch would just end up aggravating my knee injury. I was already worried that it would be too hard, but the clutch feel was predictable and obvious to me. I haven't even come close to stalling it even without having driven a manual in almost 12 years, and the shifts are always crisp and smooth.

Exclamation

There is, under the steering column; it's in plain view attached to the pedal; I beleive removing this spring & just leaving the pedal to work only against the master cylinder would do the trick

I just didn't want to mess with it yet; one thing I did modify
was the clutch grab point by screwing in the master cylinder threads into the clutch pedal bracket.

Lowered physical pedal height & now my clutch grab point is super close to the floor without any gear grinds/ hesitation shifting back & forth between 1st and Reverse

Yeah, the delay valve appears to be built into the master cylinder.

I agree, clutch is wussy feeling. It just needs a bit more resistance. Its much lighter than a stock WRX, or STI and even a MINI. We had a clutch manufacture come by last week where we asked him about making a BRZ part. The answer was yes, but it wouldn't happen for a long time. Just not enough customers yet.

I have done this two times in the past. The spring is designed to make the clutch pedal feel very linear and also return it to the stop completely. When I have removed these, the clutch feel changes to stiffer at the top than at the bottom. I ended up re installing this on my WRX because it was weird to drive. Also it was almost impossible to install because it was a huge spring. I have not looked at the BRZ to see if its an easy change or if it has a cam action like the old cars. If it does, then it might be a good way to add some feel to the car.

ACT and Clutchmasters are both looking for an FRS/BRZ for clutch upgrades...too bad you guys aren't in S. California...

Thanks for the heads up; good thing I haven't remove it yet since you say it is a little difficult to return if you are not happy with the feeling. I will wait until I get R&D feedback on that operation by shops like yours that has the resources to put it back together correctly. Please keep us updated on if removing the spring feels better or not =D

I definitely feel left out on this! Saw the thread on shops looking for demo cars & it sucks that all I saw was CA haha. Currently looking hard for any shop around Las Vegas that would like to develop parts =P

The clutch feels so light it reminds me of a clutch pedal when you drain the hydraulic fluid completely out. Toyota clutches are notoriously light, but this is just ridiculous. I hope we can come up with a solution just so we can gain a little more feedback from the pedal.

I do have a small football we can cram under the pedal. Simple, cheap, and adjustable at that!
