Pretty sure mine was hitting 8k RPMs on the dyno being tuned to 20+ psi before the "break-in period" was even up.

Obviously any car that is taken on a test drive gets revved to over 4K.


I believe it was a Road and Track article some years ago that said if you ignore the break in instructions and rev your engine like you stole it from day one it will develop worn rings and burn oil earlier in it's life.


But the tolerances to which engines are made now are SO much closer than in the 70's it is probably much less true.

I'm pretty sure men come from Subaru and take the car back if you do this. Oh well, you could always try to hide it somewhere so they can't find it.
