I'd rather just buy a turbo kit and build up the motor a bit.

It could be done for about 15k-ish depending on how extensive the build is and how much of it you are capable of doing yourself:

Turbokit: $5,000 ish
Clutch: $700 ish
Full Exhaust: $1,000 ish
Oil Cooler: $700 ish
Injectors: $500 ish
Boost, Oil Temp, Wideband: $1,000 ish
Tuning: $1,500
Pistons: $600 ish
Rods: $800 ish
Head Gaskets: $400 ish
Valve Springs: $250 ish
Head Studs: $300 ish
DSS 600hp Axles: $1,000
Fuel Pump: $150 ish

Total for all of that runs $13,950 and I aimed high on quite a few items. Some of that can also be aruged whether or not you'd even need it, I suppose.

I would just run a 2871R with the supporting mods on stock internals and shoot for around 300whp and call it a day.

I thought they were using a FA20 fueling system for a PI/DI hybrid system on the WRX, is that including their new manifold?

Interesting I had no idea.

I always wondered why the FA20DIT made so much more torque than the FA20.

You couldn't figure out why a turbod version of an engine made more torque than its naturally aspirated cousin?! Really!?

Sorry I should have been more specific.

I meant when the FA20na has forced induction(turbocharged) vs FA20dit

Not sure where you're getting that info either but OK.

I mean I could totally be wrong but I seem to recall stock Fa20dit's making solid torque numbers on a dyno even in stock form?

I'd love to hear your opinion on it though since you have one hell of a brz

The fa20dit is rated at 258ftlbs at the crank stock. The last fa20 turbo fbm did on a stock exhaust made 266ftlbs at the tire, so that's over 300 at the crank.

This reads more as adding PI to a much larger DI system than FA20 to begin with. It may end up being a better system than the fa20 because of this.

I definitely would have much preferred a much bigger DI system, especially when E85 is much better with DI. The majority of 86 owners wants less than 400, this would've been perfect as no need for fuel pump+ bigger PI injectors for just about everyone but the "big" turbo straight line guys.
