They look like they would blow away in the first big wind, though. Will you be able to anchor it down?
Thanks for the links, but I think you're right, they'll just blow away. I'm not sure how I could anchor it.

Mind pointing me to the other thread?

Looks like a nice carport. Just be sure to anchor it down very well into the concrete. A strong wind can move it and damage your car and surrounding property. I live in south Florida with a carport attached to a mobile home and they are the first thing to go in a strong storm, usually hurricane force, even if anchored properly. Even if your area does not get strong storms, it must be anchored securely. Carports are wind magnets but will help protect your car from the hot Florida sun.

Sounds like a great idea, though!

It's not very helpful, but here it is: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66471

It's pretty much the same as what extrashaky posted.

Price is pretty much everything, that metal one will work well, and survive anything short of a 100mph winds (assuming you anchor it in place) I have a 2 car wide one that I got with a house I bought, it's 30 years old and and still works fine. I actually took it with me when I sold the house. A new one is over $1600 from lowes but will last forever, and you can always add more sheet metal and close it in on 3 sides. Can't say anything about the cloth ones, but so long as the metal frame is thick enough (you can hang on it without it bending), It will be fine, and much cheaper, sounds like this is a temporary structrue anyway. Depending on what your landlord will let you get away with, you could also go with a quonset hut style: http://www.shelter-solution.com/quon...-kit-12x8.html
These can be in metal or cloth, and the price is between the other two.

Also assuming you will be putting this on concrete/asphalt, you will need a masonry drill bit, and some heavy duty concrete screws, or anchors. On grass I just bought some long rebar, bent it into a large J, and hammered it into the ground at an angle.

It really all comes down to the amount you have/want to spend. I'll take a pic of my ghetto cover when I have some daylight.

^That's a pretty neat set up. Like one of those temporary hangars the military uses.

As for the OP, how do you keep someone from stealing your spot, or are spaces specifically assigned to tenants?
