Anyone ever buy a car parking cover/canopy/carport for your apartment?

My landlord just gave me the OK to put up a cover/canopy for my car in my apartment's parking lot. Anyone ever used one? Suggestions on which to buy or where to get it? Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

The car is going to be outside?

With the cover on?

Ahh, that makes more sense.

Don't you live in hurricane hell?

Ask in the Canadian forum, I remember when I was in Montreal almost every house had on in the driveway

I use a car cover. Canopy should give you some protection from the sun and maybe hail.

I'm too central/northern for most hurricanes. We get rain and wind, but Gainesville is too inland.

Like the kind you put over your car every time you park? I don't want to do that.

Well, yes. Just at home. Not everyday. Just when I know it will snow, sleet, rain, or ice. Keeps the UV rays from it.

That moment you run to the store and there's a 82 vw parked under your canopy :)

What type of price are you looking at? the metal one in the picture can cost over 1K, the fabric ones that were posted in the other thread were only like $150. I built my own(2 car) out of pvc and a 20x30 silver tarp for $300

Harbor Freight sells them.

They look like they would blow away in the first big wind, though. Will you be able to anchor it down?

apartments w/o garages or car ports included in the agreement baffle me.
