Just spoke to a friend that knows this guy - he left the car keys in the car and that is how they drove off with it. I'm surprised that the guy didn't hear the engine start up because his exhaust is super loud. (Unless was warming it up already)

IT WAS NOT A BREACH OF OUR SECURITY LOCK OR IMMOBILIZER

This could happen to any car or anyone of us so please remember to lock your doors and take your keys with you guys - even if it's just for a few minutes

It's actually doubly surprising because that area of Queens is relatively safe as well. It wasn't in the boonies or anything

But being fellow 86 drivers we should still be on the look out for the parts or the car itself to help out

Get one of those bars that lock on the wheels, or get a tracker guys... anything in life is possible, even bypassing our security system

LoJack has several options. They have a basic tracking system that installs the tracking device in your car. Upon filing a report with the police, they will be able to track your car. The device doesn't use GPS or cellular towers, instead it uses the police band, so it's a big stronger in places like tunnels, parking garages, etc. It also goes direct to officers' squad cars.

For a little more, LoJack has an "Advanced warning" system that will call/text/email you if the car moves or wheels are lifted off the ground (such as being towed) without the transponder in the vehicle. The transponder is a small device you keep on your keychain. Your dealer can have it installed by an authorized LoJack rep.

X2
I have it on all of my cars. 6 total cars in the family.

And cops love it because it tends to be a easy bust for them.

FRS stolen!? Hide your kids hide your wife, and hide tour mother, cause they stealing everything aroud here.

In all seriousness though, leaving ur keys in the car is a fail. However noone is safe from flatbeds. LoJack helps but it can be found. 4 cars got swiped in the same night from westlynn via flatbeds including a GTR with LoJack. Still haven't seen the GTR so I'm assuming its stripped to the frame or cut up.

I'm wondering how does insurance work in a case where you left the keys in the car? Is this type of negligence enough for them to deny the claim under comprehensive?
