Whoa! wait. I dont see dual springs in that pic above.

These engines dont have dual springs?
I thought valve float was an issue above ~6k unless you had dual springs....

55k on my odometer and I don't think there has been any loss. I also don't notice any hesitation, or idle issues. I've been running 93/E10 pretty much the whole time aside from a couple tanks of 91 when in Iowa.

Basically my post was to say, single springs aren't really the limiting factor on revving high. It's more dependent on your camshafts and the springs ability not to coil bind and hold the seat firm.

On intakes that are REALLY clogged up with carbon buildup, I wondered whether Seafoam might break large chunks of carbon loose that then find themselves stuck in, or clogging up the catalytic converters.

I did read that the stuff works. On DI-only cars, it can't be added to the fuel because no fuel touches the intake ports or valves, so it needs to be sprayed into the intake, upstream of the valves.

Run a catch can and drive it like its meant to be, let it warm up. I'm not a fan of any of those sea foam cleaners.

Even with the port injectors I believe we will see problems with these motors and build up when they are older and higher miles.

Read the MSDS on Seafoam and you'll know why it's in a steel bottle instead of aluminum...

(hint: I'll NEVER use the stuff)

With all the "snake oil" products on the market, Seafoam is one of the only products I've seen old-timers and knowledgeable people say actually works.

It has many uses, as a gas and oil stabilizer for storage, engine and trans cleaner (I read about people adding it just before rebuilding or working on stuff because it cleans everything so well). It also works to soften and remove carbon on valves and combustion chambers.

It does work.

That said, I wouldn't use it on my new car personally.

It's Dependent on the weight of the valve.
