I think I could make a good guess as to the material sizes, but it's nice to know for sure. Your right about each car being different, even with the use of CAD/CAM these days, things are rarely identical. Still, a very ingenious way to do the job. Looking forward to find out how well it works for you.

I'm not actually sure that it would be legal in any state, would be up to the DOT. The material strength properties of the bolts would be the highest concern. Still going to go for it here in Minnesota. Class I hitch, maybe, needs to be tested.

Anyone know if this is legal in CA? If not what would make it so?

Thanks!

What size, brand is your box? Also how much did you get it for? I have been searching high and low for one just about like that and can't seem to find one that is deep enough to hold everything I want. Just finished the frame and wiring this weekend. Thanks

Nice. The next question is what does the box weight? Shipping weight off the packaging should suffice.

Have you had much of a chance to get any trailer time with the hitch? Is it handling well? What kind of tongue weight are you getting the trailer loaded? I'm very interested for my own use and if the stresses are too much for the hardware, this hitch design is true winner.

Thanks for posting up the sneak peek pictures Eric!

Eric has the prototype version of this hitch, and as he already noted, it's not going to work for all due to the slight differences from car to car. We used this hitch for the first road trip to the Blytheville Pro this past weekend and I'm happy to report that everything worked flawlessly.

I am in the process of building prototype number 2 right now which will accommodate for the variances and address a few cosmetic changes that I wanted. I hope to have something to test by this weekend. Stay tuned for updates.

Seriously, with the simplicity for install/removal, I absolutely love it, and would be down for one as well.
