Actually its not as fishy for dealers to store cars at least around here, many here have giant staging lots. My dealer was storing a regular 2014 for me in case the Monograms were unavailable in Canada, after all they wanted to secure my business. As for the choices, I'd only wait if it was for something like a Monogram which isn't available until later or if it was financial issues.
Montreal should have sufficient snow cleaning crews, perhaps even better than Toronto, so I wouldn't worry. If you're worried about being stuck, getting snows with smaller rims is a positive move. With RWD cars, if the conditions are that bad where you can't set off from a stop then at least the car is giving you notice that its really bad driving conditions and its best to stay home. I personally plan on daily driving my car all year, I can't plan around Toronto's snow and I've always trusted RWD cars in the snow better than the FWD cars I have to drive at work. |

You're gonna waste winter, the hooligan season? That's a sin.

The extreme cold isn't a huge issue though for any modern car unless your driving all-seasons since they harden, thus provide less grip. Most modern cars will deliver heat to the cabin after its started. Its often more of a test of your battery and electrical system. Idle as long as necessary for the fluids to warm up, and they should be ready to go. |

What's fishy is the dealer's willingness to commit fraud by backdating paperwork. Should give you an idea of who you're dealing with unless at the last moment the dealer surprises you by reneging on their promise.
Ask another dealer in your big city for a quote for comparison, this one sounds shaky. |

You can never (in general... There are exceptions) go wrong delaying your purchase just a bit.
The dealership will want you to buy sooner than later. Don't. They'll still want your business in a few months if you don't buy now. But their willingness to play games with the paperwork dating is fishy. That's concerning. If they're willing to lie in one area, where will they willingly lie again, and will they lie to you about things which will come back to haunt you later? Better to deal with a dealership who won't fudge things & deals with you & corporate openly & honestly in full. That's worth A LOT! Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

Theyre not backdating paperwork, we used to do this at my dealership when I worked there. We would start the paperwork lets say on the last day of the month and if it didnt finish on the last day we could still close the deal until the 2nd day of the month and the sale would could for the previous month. It gives you the chance to see which month has better incentive and could be a way to seal the deal with a customer who is a few hundred bucks away from a deal.

To me, winter is not a "playground" and it is definitely not "fun". The majority of people on this forum have this mentality and it's probably because you don't experience the roads like we do. It sucks esp. here in Canada where we have gotten more than 20 inches of snow on the road this year. I don't know what America is getting for winter roads but up north it blows. That is why I have a winter beater and I'll drive the FR-S in spring.

Are the dealers lips moving?... they tend to lie.
Either way, in March a car will be available, In fact, I'd wait until April this year. Winter sucks and this gives you 7 months to look for a beater to drive next winter. |

just picked up my brz last week. had been planning on buying in april, but i liked the 1.9% financing subaru was offering right now, so i ran with it. i had my doubts they would have similar discounts until next year during the cold season, so i just didn't see a reason to delay the purchase anymore--if you're happy with the deal, i don't think it will get any better for you, the cars will only come back into higher demand once it starts warming up.. yes, it really sucks to be driving it in the snow right now on the stock tires(had planned to get snow tires for next year, not for 2 months of this year), but i guess that's the price i pay for a good deal...

The date of first use isn't the dealer's reported sale date, but the actual date the vehicle is registered to the buyer. But I agree, it happens all the time almost always to benefit the dealership's travel rate calculation to increase allocations following month end close in Toyota's turn-and-earn system and to enhance dealership, managers and salesmen incentive earnings. |
