Stainless steel wool also cleans up glass nicely. You have residue fom adhesive stick on numbers or, more likely from a grease pencil.

I agree Bon Ami is likely to work, spray on and leave for a few minutes before wiping off. Then Windex or similar to clean off any dissolved residue.

Not saying it won't work, but be gentle, I have swirl marks from a sponge dish scrubber where I tried to take a residue off my windshield, most delicate glass I've had on a car.

Hmm… my detailer has detailed/cleaned the glass while he was polishing the car for opti-coat when I first purchase the car, I guess this is why I never seem the number.
Maybe some very light polish may remove it?
