I think for you, you'd best leave TMC completely.......
I think if you're waiting for anything fun to be branded a "Toyota" you'd be waiting a long long time (that or the demise of the Scion brand).

my main concern at this point is tuning potential. nob taniguchi mentioned something like they had to keep the boost low on the HKS Supercharger because of the rods. and they were only making 250 hp. im not expecting 500 hp on stock internals, but cmon, they couldnt have cut that many corners right? if that turns out to be the case then you'll sink waaay too much money in this car than its worth imo. just buy a next gen cayman s and be done with it... not to mention the resale value of a stock porsche vs a tuned scion...

Another second thought: at only $1315 more why not buy a BRZ Premium, with added nav and HIDs? Good deal if you can live with the looks. Not sure I can.

I jumped ship a few months ago and I haven't regretted my decision. Bought an 09' GTI for $18000. Got an APR stage 1 tune and I gotta say that it's a fun little car. I'm still following the BRZ with interest and look forward to seeing how it and the aftermarket parts scene develops over the next couple of years.

Assuming all goes well I'll look at selling the GTI and buying a lightly used BRZ in 3 years or so.

Personally, I like buying cars 2-3 years old. Let someone else take that initial $10,000 hit to drive a car 20-30k miles.

I'm still debating fun vs practicality...
I don't have kids and recently graduated, so I rarely need something practical, but I can't help but think for that 1-2 times a year I need the trunk space I'll be regretting a small car.
I'm thinking I can have enough fun and more than enough practicality with a tC or GTI. GTI will be probably a bit too expensive for me (huge markup in Canada ) So I would be buying it used if that was the case.

You sounded like me circa 2004 when I was looking to get rid of my Integra and get a truck to haul my bike to the track.

I don't care what anybody says, a truck is a must! If the Nissan is in good condition, I say do it! This car isn't going anywhere and over a span of 10 yrs, you have plenty of time to decide when to pick one up.

Precisely my line of thinking. I had an aging 1995 camaro z28 and I really needed to get a new car. Instead of hoping that my camaro would make it to the release date, dealer mark-ups, and availability of the Toyobaru I decided to grab something else that should keep me happy for a few years.

I'm betting that there will be engine refinements and additional performance packages offered in the next couple of years. Hopefully some forced induction!

At it's current price, also considering dealer markups as well... I'm really going to wait on this car. I'll go test drive it first, then I'll decide if I'll wait on it or not. I'll buy a used one in a few years. I'll let someone else bite the bullet of depreciation. I'm betting on the fact that someone's gonna buy out of their means and have to sell it off at a discount.
