Mine will be listed shortly for $24,500. It will be returned to stock and sold unless the buyer is interested in specific parts being left on (for an additional cost) as I have a new one on the way through work.

It currently has about 29k on the odometer and is an ex-press car used to launch the FR-S in Canada back in May 2013 (before they officially went on sale to the public here too...). It was one of the first FR-S on the road in Canada, so hense the higher than normal kms. It has brand new tires that were never used, so it will be like buying brand new. Amsoil synthetic used since picked up.

PM is open for those shopping the market. Sorry to hijack!

I think you'll have a hard time selling one for $24k with almost 30k km's on it... from a buyers perspective, the comprehensive warranty is half gone and the powertrain warranty is 1/3 gone after a year.

I'd love to trade my 2013 Elentra GT in on a used FRS but I dont think I can face losing that amount on my car unless I could find a great deal on a used FRS

Depends on the perspective.

It's not a common car to see come up used right now. Buyers who plan to modify their car have already looked past the warranty period, as they are more likely to void it anyways installing specific parts.

The key is supply and demand though. There are very few of them available as most were financed (4-5 years) or leased (3-4 years). Ya, you'll see them come up from time to time, but for most, they will be upside-down for the first couple of years, so it doesn't make sense.

This unit is an associate vehicle, so it comes discounted already to absorb some of that early depreciation that can occur. Plus, I baby them. I was a ex-detailer and the car shows that. There isn't a scratch or dent anywhere. The interior is spotless. Sadly, this is rare to find on any car with 30k of driving.

While it may not seem like a discount to many, a car that retails for $32,000 with all applicable fees, options, and taxes, can be had for roughly $5,000 less than new only one year from launch is a pretty good deal. Remember, Scion's don't get incentives, so you'll never buy one for less unless a dealer likes losing money (rare).

Again, not everyone will want it, but there is someone out there that knows $5,000 can get a lot of mods that someone buying new just wont be able to afford.

Anyways, it's there if you want it. If you don't, no worries.

Don't you guys have to pay full taxes on a sued vehicle in Ontario now?

So your 24k is in reality 27k.

Some dealers in TO are currently selling for 25900 + Tax(29k). I called 2 and they did not have the color I wanted, they tried hard to get me into another color... they also did not like that I did not want financing.

Regardless, a little over 2k more gets you into a new full warranty FRS.

Not to mention that I would not advertise this was a press car to begin with. They have been beater mercilessly by lots of people who did not care at all.

If I am not mistaken, when buying used car from *private party* you do not need to add tax to the purchase. For example, if both private parties agrees on a price, they can work out the details and exchange the ownership based on that price and deduct the sale price on the DMV. On the other hand, if you (private party) are buying from a car sales company (dealership or not), you will need to pay tax for that transaction, and that could be the limiting factor here.

So, on one hand, if a brand new car Out-the-Door (OTD) is about 30K with base price at 26.3K, for a one year old car selling at 24K at a reasonable mileage with *private* party, that looks like a good deal because you are paying 24K outright. Whereas if this car is being sold by a car company, that 24K needs to add tax/doc fee (damned!!)/whatnot and that could cost about 27K. This will not sell since by paying a bit more you can get a brand new car.

Hopefully I am making sense on this. Just my 2 cents.

Incorrect. You have to pay the sales tax on the used car whether you buy from a dealership or private party. The buyer pays the seller whatever price they agreed on, then the buyer goes to the Ministry of Transportation to register the car and that's when he/she pays the sales tax to the government.

Hmmm.. That seems about right. My mistake then.

Thanks for the clarifications.

Why, what's wrong with it being ex-press? I bought it direct from Toyota (where I work), so everything that needed replacement was replaced. This includes the brakes and tires, which were done completely at 8k and 13k respectfully. All the fluids were also replaced just for safety at 8k. There is so much worry about abusing a car...what do you think your going to do with it after you buy, drive it only on sunny days to the grocery store, shifting at 2,000RPM or less the whole time? Doubt it.

Mine has been completely cycled of all the fluids 3 times now. Motul is now the life blood of the transmission and diff, with Amsoil filling the engine. It's maintained and press car or not, it has warranty still.

But again, to each their own. I've never sold a car through a forum anyways because people here generally want soild gold for the price of top soil. I'm not worried about it selling, just offering someone the opportunity before it goes to a new home.

You pay tax when you transfer the ownership to your name regardless of where you bought the car.
