The car makes most of it's torque before 3000rpm. I find it quite responsive, and being NA, throttle response is very good. Between 3000-4800 rpm range there is a torque dip (which I think is your issue). As others have mentioned you can do some bolts ons and get a tune to flatten the response to avoid the dip. Your other option is to try and shift around the torque dip at the expense of fuel economy. If you just want more gobs more torque period either get another car or start looking at forced induction options like a turbo or supercharger. Or buy a Mustang GT...

Step 1: Attach bungie cord to front of Frs.

Step 2: Attach other end of bungie to fast car.

Step 3: ......

Step 4: Rule the world.

Thank you! I still to this day don't understand why people complain about torque in this car. What did they expect from an N/A 2 liter? I mean seriously... I find it rather strong down low. This thing has some grunt for an N/A 4cyl under 3k. Try driving a Honda and tell me how this car feels. Or my Wife's Sentra. Most N/A 4cyl cant even make 150 lb/ft in N/A 2.0l form except for the F20, but even that engine doesn't peak until 7800rpm. Sure, its no super car, but this is the wrong car if you want "gobs of torque". Or, just save up and buy the damn supercharger. $3600 with a tune is awesome if you ask me.

Header wont do it alone. Usually a header along with a tune is the cure.

The FRS/BRZ make 90% of it's maximum torque as low between 2500-3000 RPM. And even at highway speed in 6th gear, it will accelerate with ease instead of bogging down, you dont need to shift which is pretty suprising. It has a nice torque curve for what it is. A header will actually reduce low end torque.

My $0.02
