It was hot!!! I thought I was going to melt. I had an awesome day figuring out the car. I too also spun, but on Turn 6...I just was trying to mash on the throttle and not enough grip in the afternoon. The car was awesome on the track!!! I have some good saves... the car is totally predictable. The tail came out in turn 6, 8, 11. Caught all of them except turn 6. Like I said the car is totally controllable. This was my first time out in BRZ. So much fun!!!

Aim Solo DL is the datalogger
Gopro cameras, one mounted outside on the tow hook, one inside off the rear window pointing forward, one mounted outside on the rear window pointing back
videos merged with adobe premier elements
data overlay with trackvision software

I can't fine the cooler shirt and box for that cheap. Wine country has it hugely expensive. Can't fine the link on NCRC either.

he spun in T10.....watching the video the driver clearly was not "feeling" what the car was doing...he waited way too long and then didn't correct anywhere near enough....it was a very save-able slide....he just didn't input enough steering correction fast enough...

I was there the day before...it was HOT.... Are you going to the next NCRC event Friday the 12th? I might be there instructing and testing a new race car since mine blew up :>(

Yup. You hit it on the nose. This time I at least kept my foot on the throttle, but my steering correction was too little and too late. I can get fair lap times, but my car control skills leave much to be desired, which is why I realized this car would be a good thing for me to take me to the next level. I just need to take more advantage of it.

Car control and lap times are WORLDS apart.... most drivers start off as "stuck" drivers....or they push the car as hard as they can UNTIL it slides...once it slides they freak out, get scared and back way off...this isn't a bad thing, its safe as you learn.... This is how I learned...You can get a good lap time on the lower limits of "tire slip angle" and still be well in control.....you will be faster with more slip angle, BUT it requires a sensitive hand-BUTT to feel it and control it correctly....remember the steering wheel tells you what the front wheels are doing...your BUTT tells you what the tail is doing....on street tires squealing can add input to the driver....

Our cars are designed quite "loose"...which favors an advanced driver who can take advantage of the this handling characteristic... Handling balance is a razor thin edge.....highly driver dependent....one driver might say a car is loose, the other tight (understeer)....with ZERO changes to it....:happy0180:

I am hoping to be there Friday the 12th at Thunderhill....I might instruct in my FRS in driving school again (it was FUN)....if you are there I will gladly take you out in my FRS (bone stock) in advanced to hopefully show you a thing or too you can use...

This was an assumption of mine. I'm glad to hear you confirm it. I'd love to get some pointers from you sometime. I'll PM you the next time I'm out to see if you'll be around.

@orthojoe

What kind of recording setup do you have? It is badass! Do you have a microphone for the exhaust?

Thanks. Here's the setup:
1) AiM Solo DL is my logger
2) 3 gopro cameras connected and synced via wifi remote
3) Adobe Premier Elements software to edit/merge
4) Trackvision software to do the data overlay
5) external mic connected to gopro for audio. The mic is placed in the engine bay next to the battery on the BRZ. I usually place the mic behind the rear license plate to get a nice exhaust noise, but the stock BRZ exhaust makes no noise, which is why I placed the mic in the engine compartment
