oh and i only put up synthetic oils because if you want to be a tight ass and get the autozone brand oil/ rhino semen, you should be thrown into an industrial sized blender.
Yeah, I'm not putting synthetic oil in my 200k+ 4A-GE. Its survived just fine (well, the block anyways) using conventional oil.

/not jumping in blender.

Sides, I use Mobil 5000...I'm not putting SUPERTECH in the damn thing or anything.

I use toyota conventional oil in my car right now (2006 scion Xa).

I drive it hard everyday, i drive it after it has been warmed up, keeping true to 3,000mi OCI and the car runs great! Haven't burned a drop of oil yet!

I never really cared for brands when it comes to conventional oil. I mean oil is oil people...Quakerstate, Supertech, Toyota Oil, Honda Oil, w/e it all works fine! Conventional is great as long as you dont forget to change your oil LOL.

Now synthetic is a different story...

wow, quite a bit of people listed mobile one, my in subie and in many others the engines do not like that stuff. I have not been having any problems with RP, but I am thinking I will do a bit more research into Rotella because of its high acclaims in the subaru motor.

Don't get the Walmart Rotellas mixed up b/c the ones I've seen there are 15-20w. I heard the Rotella stuff is the best for heavy duty and turbo engines. I run the Honda HP4 stuff on the motos b/c of the slipper clutch.

[QUOTE=RRnold;9883]Dude... driving a Scion hard... really!?!

Look up Ferrum Mountain Road, Shooting Creek...Blue ridge parkway...all 10 miles from my college.

Theres a difference between 100mph in a straight line and pushing my tires to the limit on 20 mph switchbacks...

So yea, I drive it hard...you got a problem with that? Look at our fellow forum member who rocks a Yaris.

they got 15w40 conventional and 10w30 synthetic rotella at my walmart. i never understood why race motors used such thick weights. i would of thought that with the tighter tolerances you would want a thinner viscosity.

And what I meant by synthetics are different is that conventional oils arent that different from eachother, BUT synthetics vary greatly!!!

because its not the same as conventional?

Brands in the synthetic world have a slightly bigger impact on oil quality vs. the conventional side of things.

That's all I meant to say...suprised ya'll didnt get that..

Thicker = more heat absorption?

That or better wear and tear protection. Either way people have been doing this for a while so i'm gonna stick to what they do! Not that I have a race motor or anything, but when I do i'll go that route.
