Let's face it, the iPhone was great when it actually was different, 5 years ago. Sure, you couldn't do basic functions like copy and paste or picture mail, but it was a different way of interacting with a phone.

Now, no contest. iPhones are for people who want image, are already heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem, or can't handle a phone that lets you customize more than the phones name. Android CAN do more, and no, it doesn't have any more headaches than an iPhone (if you buy a quality phone). And the beauty of it all? You can get one that fits YOUR taste.

You can quote all the impressive credentials you want. It doesn't make you right. There is nothing the iPhone offers that you can't get on an Android device, well, besides the abomination that is iTunes.

No, he just doesn't have the capacity to handle something more than an app grid. It gives him headaches.

Meanwhile, I'll enjoy my gorgeous screen, amazing speakers, awesome camera, and beautiful aluminum unibody.
Wow. God himself has spoken

Please tell me what an iPhone can't do, that 99% of the users REALLY need? This is the exact response I'd expect from an Android user. I mention my credentials, because all of these OSes are Linux based. My entire career has been around Linux. I know how to get around quite well in Linux, should you ever want to learn a few things.

Edit: Android vs iPhone vs Windows discussions never seem to end well, which is why I typically stay out of them. I'll bow out of the conversation, and let everyone call me an uneducated idiot for actually preferring an iPhone.

Depends on your definition of "can do". They all have the same basic apps, but being able to configure say wifi/bluetooth/screen timeout/etc. on a home screen, using simple apps like email and calendar through widgets, etc. means less waiting and less tapping on icons to get what you want. Convenience.

One thing I can't do with an iPhone is run Torque... But AppRadio on my Pioneer X8500BHS works pretty well with my iPhone 5.

Why not wait for the next iteration of iPhone to compare, buying an iPhone so late in it's product sale cycle, you'll be pissed when the new one comes out a few weeks/months after.

You can quote all the certifications and experience in the world. Doesn't mean you know what you're talking about or are right. Plain and simple.

What can the S4 do that the iPhone can't?

* SD Card
* Battery
* Actual HD. LOL
* Quickly turn wifi on and off without going through 4 menus.
* Dedicated back button, rather than leaving it up to the developer.
* Much superior notifications
* Google Now
* Set default apps to perform functions.
* Navigate, correctly.
* Faster CPU
* Customization
* Widgets
* Lockscreen widgets
* Real multitasking
* Doesn't need iTunes to update.
* A real file system
* Much easier to add/remove/share music.

And that's just off the top of my head. Not even getting into the software advanatages that Samsung packages.

Call me God or whatever you want. I'm sure you'll have some sort of iSheep response.

This thread is going to get ugly... oy.

Everyday things people can actually use over the iphone? And I mean everyday people, if you want to bring in jailbreaking, your welcome to do so

-Download torrents
-Upgrade to more memory for cheap (instead of paying 100-200$ in idiotic premiums)
-You can put song in and out on any devices, you're not stuck in iTunes universe. I love this, no more itune account sync crap
-The USB drive mode is really great
-The screen is bigger, if you like big phones, android it is

These are my main reason for going android. I'm sure there's way around on the iphone...but I thought it was supposed to work out of the box..

HD screen with normal viewing proportions.

Last long enough on battery.

Change that battery if it starts to suck because it goes through rougher charge/discharge cycles.

My buddy is pretty die hard Apple, but he was pretty underwhelmed by his 5. Why? Because I got my Galaxy Nexus a few months before. Sure the 5 is a little more powerful, but functionality is pretty much equal in real-world/normal people land. (Wtf is rooting an Android device?)

Buuuuut...

Screen size.

He was showing it off when he got it, talking about it, so in the middle of that I brought up an HD video on full brightness on mine. He literally stopped mid-sentence and said 'Fuck, that's a nice screen.'

And the Galaxy Nexus is like 2 generations old.

Go with an S4 or new the LG.

After hearing everyone's opinions, i think i will wait out for the S4 Google Edition, as the announcement on it seems very promising. A pure android phone without the bloatware from Samsung.

The iphone 5 does seem a little outdated compared to nowadays phones.

I will be using my old LG optimus (at least it works) for the time being until the s4 google edition comes out
