Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition vs iPhone 5
I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S3, and don't know whether to wait to get the s4 Google edition or get the iphone 5.
Which one is better? Edit: The reason im looking for a new phone. The s3 speaker doesn't work anymore ever since i left the phone in the car on a very hot day. The phone has signal problems. The signal reciever is damaged, have got the cheapest quote of $280 to fix. |
Android....can do much more ..iPhone is just a bling bling device with a old OS..I have a iPhone 4 and had the rest of the other iPhones and got boring..I have a GS3 running a GS4 ROM..
Its up to you on what you like.. Simple=iPhone android=open to make the device really what you like it to be.. Simple or crazy modifications like me lol..I like to make the device really fit me .. I do have iPads/nexus 7.. I like both but I like android better.. I use to be a iPhones jail breaking freak but android is top when you want to modified |
What's missing in S3 that you want an upgrade? I have S3 (international version I bought before US official release, so no 4G), and do not feel that need something new for another $600.

I went to a phone repairer and they quoted me $280. So best option for me is to get a new phone |
I vote HTC One, but that wasn't an option :(
If you can only choose those two, S4 all the way. |
Yeah you can get a speaker for like 10$ for it.. Amazon or eBay.. Easy fix

No love for Windows Phone? :(
Anyway, I'd probably side with the S4. The iphone is just eh in my point of view. However both are very popular phones so they'll be catered to the most when it comes to apps and other social or marketing gimmicks and they both seem simple to use. It just depends on how you're going to use your phone on a daily basis. |
If you want headaches, get an Android phone. If you want a good solid phone, get the iPhone. Heck, I'd take a Windows phone over an Android powered phone.
I absolutely love the guys who say "Android can do much more". While I tend to agree on some level, the majority of users can do just as much on an iPhone or Windows phone. For those of you that think an iPhone is just a fashion statement, or as Marky put it...a bling bling device, my guess is that you're simply regurgitating the same rhetoric that Android fans love to pin on iPhone users. You know, the one that call iPhone users uneducated idiots? Before you say I don't know what I'm talking about...here's some of my experience over the past 20yrs: - Sr Solaris, AIX, HPUX, Novell Netware, SCO Openserver, BSD, Linux admin - DBA - Computer Science degree - Senior and Principal Software Developer in Linux and Enterprise software - Know C, C++, Objective C, Java, PHP, Perl, Ruby, Python, etc... - Been Director of Engineering for one of the largest companies in the world - Own 2 software companies, one a software as a service (all Linux based), and the other mobile software (yes, I develop for both iPhone and Android). It sounds ridiculous having to explain my credentials, but without it...I'd simply be called an idiot for choosing an iPhone. If you like to customize your home screen and play with widgets, then Android will suit you fine. Otherwise, I'd strongly suggest the iPhone. If you want to get hard core, you can always jailbreak it...run a database server, webserver, and anything else you'd like. |

I don't even know where to start with your post. It's entirely incorrect. I can understand if you PREFER your iPhone over an android device...but to say you can't do more and they are just full of headaches??? You're wayyyyy off base there man.
Let's face it, the iPhone was great when it actually was different, 5 years ago. Sure, you couldn't do basic functions like copy and paste or picture mail, but it was a different way of interacting with a phone. Now? No contest. iPhones are for people who want the image, are already heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem, or can't handle a phone that lets you customize more than the phones name. Android CAN do more, and no, it doesn't have any more headaches than an iPhone (if you buy a quality phone). And the beauty of it all? You can get one that fits YOUR taste. You can quote all the impressive credentials you want. It doesn't make you right. There is nothing the iPhone offers that you can't get on an Android device, well, besides the abomination that is iTunes. Quote:
Meanwhile, I'll enjoy my gorgeous screen, amazing speakers, awesome camera, and beautiful aluminum unibody. :) |
Android headaches? Wut.
My buggy CM7 build doesn't even give me headaches, but looking at that tiny iPhone screen and trying to navigate with only one home screen button does make my head actually hurt. I tried to give the iPhone a chance, I really did...but I don't want migraines. |
